Job summary

Maersk is seeking an HSE specialist for our Maasvlakte site to implement safety policies aligned with national legislation, ISO/TAPA standards, and customer requirements. You will lead risk assessments, audits, and prevention programs to protect staff and operations.

You will work with line managers across functions to drive continuous improvement and ensure compliance through training, documentation, and performance reviews.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with formal prevention education or proven work experience at this level.
  • 1+ years’ experience as a certified prevention advisor in contract logistics with 3+ years in general contract logistics.
  • Experience in a multinational organization is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills in Dutch and fluent English.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, document, follow up and monitor safety processes and procedures.
  • Audit processes and conduct regular workplace visits to monitor safety.
  • Perform risk analyses and assess risk profiles of activities.
  • Create and maintain prevention and recovery systems via a business continuity plan.
  • Provide high-level recommendations to reduce identified risks for leadership decisions.
  • Coordinate with line managers on incidents and investigations and insurance.
  • Advise on workplaces, materials, and instructions with line managers.
  • Monitor corrective and preventive actions.
  • Drive safety and quality information sharing across the organization.
  • Assist with emergency procedures/First aid.
  • Manage the internal service for prevention and protection.
  • Contribute to the annual prevention plan.
  • Ensure clear process steps are in place.
  • Review/implement performance follow-up processes.
  • Evaluate processes for compliance with quality requirements.
  • Develop, perform and analyze audits.
  • Identify and align processes and create new ones after opportunities.
  • Monitor dangerous goods licenses and trainings for staff on-site; advise as needed.
  • Assist with TSR/truck security for relevant customers; monitor TSR program.

OPPORTUNITY:

As HSE specialist you will implement policies for prevention in the organization in line with the applicable national legislation, customer requirements, ISO/TAPA standard as well as other service requirements related to certification of the on-site activities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Planning, documenting, following up and monitoring the implementation of safety processes and procedures.
  • Monitoring safety by auditing processes and regular workplace visits.
  • Performing Risk analysis, understanding the risk profile of the various activities in the area.
  • Creating and maintaining systems of prevention and recovery to deal with potential threats to the company through a business continuity plan.
  • Providing high level recommendations to reduce identified risks, enabling the decision making of the leadership management.
  • Analyzing, in coordination with the line managers, accidents, near miss incident investigations and accidents with injuries that were reported by HR to the insurance.
  • Advising on workplaces, materials, instructions in coordination with the line managers.
  • Processing and monitoring the effects of corrective and preventive actions.
  • Driving the sharing of safety and quality related information throughout the organization.
  • Cooperating in emergency procedures/First aid.
  • Managing the internal service for prevention and protection.
  • Contributing to the year and overall prevention plan.
  • Ensuring clear process steps are in place.
  • Reviewing/implementing performance follow up processes.
  • Evaluating processes for compliance with quality requirements.
  • Developing, performs and analyses audits.
  • Identifying processes, aligning processes and creating new processes after identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Monitoring the dangerous goods licenses and trainings for staff on-site. Providing them with advice when needed.
  • Assisting with implementing TSR/truck security for all relevant customers in the site.
  • Monitoring the TSR program.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
  • Bachelor’s degree combined with formal prevention education or proven work experience on this level.
  • 1+ years’ experience as a certified prevention advisor in contract logistics combined with 3+ years in general contract logistics.
  • Experience in a multinational organization, working with various cultures across the globe is a definite plus.
  • Experience with IT systems is a definite plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving abilities.
  • Ability to work with stakeholders across all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to develop strong relationships with team leaders helping them to identify and mitigate their risks.
  • Understanding the overall nature of the business and the interdependencies between the own function and the other functions.
  • Excellent communication skills in Dutch and fluency in English.
