Health & Safety Strategy & Governance
- Develop and maintain the project's Health & Safety strategy, management plans, standards, and procedures;
- Translate corporate H&S policies, standards, and regulatory requirements into practical project-specific requirements;
- Act as the H&S authority within the project team and provide expert advice to project leadership;
- Ensure alignment between project objectives and corporate safety expectations;
- Monitor changes in legislation and industry standards and assess their impact on project activities.
H&S Management Throughout the Project Lifecycle
- Ensure H&S requirements are integrated into design, engineering, construction, commissioning, and operational readiness activities;
- Lead project risk assessments, task risk assessments, and other safety reviews;
- Establish, implement, and maintain project safety procedures, work instructions, and permit-to-work systems;
- Ensure contractor safety management requirements are defined, communicated, and monitored;
- Verify compliance with critical safety programs including LOTO, confined space entry, working at heights, electrical safety, lifting operations, contractor management, and ATEX requirements where applicable;
- Ensure suitable emergency response arrangements are developed, tested, and maintained throughout the project.
Site Safety Leadership
- Provide visible safety leadership across all project locations;
- Conduct regular site inspections, safety walks, audits, and behavioral observations;
- Lead investigations of incidents, near misses, unsafe conditions, and non-conformities;
- Ensure root cause analyzes are completed and corrective and preventive actions are implemented;
- Stop work when unsafe conditions present unacceptable risk.
Training, Awareness & Safety Culture
- Drive a proactive safety culture within the project organization;
- Develop and deliver H&S inductions, toolbox talks, awareness campaigns, and training programs;
- Coach project managers, engineers, supervisors, and contractors on H&S expectations and responsibilities;
- Promote continuous improvement and employee engagement in safety initiatives.
Compliance, Auditing & Assurance
- Plan and execute H&S audits, inspections, and compliance reviews;
- Coordinate external audits and regulatory inspections;
- Ensure timely closure of audit findings and corrective actions;
- Support achievement and maintenance of relevant certifications and management system requirements;
- Act as lead auditor for project H&S assessments when required.
Performance Monitoring & Reporting
- Define, track, and report project H&S KPIs and leading indicators;
- Analyze trends, identify emerging risks, and recommend improvement measures;
- Prepare H&S performance reports for project governance meetings and senior management;
- Maintain accurate documentation and records related to safety performance and compliance.
Stakeholder Management
- Collaborate closely with project management, engineering teams, operations, contractors, and external authorities;
- Represent the project in discussions with regulators, insurers, external auditors, and other stakeholders regarding Health & Safety matters;
- Facilitate alignment and knowledge sharing between project teams and operational sites;
- Drive continuous improvement of H&S practices throughout the project lifecycle;
- Identify opportunities to reduce risk through engineering, organizational, and behavioral interventions;
- Capture and share lessons learned across the project and wider organization.

Qualifications
- Higher professional education (HBO) working and thinking level, preferably in a relevant field of study such as safety/environment/technology, engineering, or management;
- A completed HVK training or Integrated Safety Science IVK or Management of Safety, Health & Environment MoSHE;
- Demonstrable experience in a similar SHE role within a production environment;
- Experience with ISO systems, RI&E processes and knowledge of relevant laws and regulations;
- Experience with crisis management, stakeholder management, and proficiency in project management and budget management.
Through our agency, you will receive a 12-month temporary contract. There is a possibility that your contract will be renewed after these 12 months or that our client will make you an offer of a contract, however, we are not able to guarantee this.
- Salary will be around €8000 - 9600 gross a month based on a full-time position (40 hours a week) and is based on education and experience;
- Travel expenses will be covered;
