Job description

We are seeking an experienced HR Professional to support our People & Culture operations in the Netherlands. While there are several core operational responsibilities that require immediate local support, this role has the potential to operate at a broader HR Business Partner/Generalist level, providing end-to-end HR support across the employee lifecycle.

The successful candidate will act as a trusted advisor to managers and stakeholders, ensuring compliance with Dutch employment legislation while driving People & Culture initiatives and supporting business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

The minimum scope of support required includes:

  • Manage the end-to-end sickness absence process in line with Dutch legislation and company policies.
  • Act as the primary liaison with the occupational health vendor (MK Basics), ensuring follow-up appointments, review meetings, and communication with managers.
  • Advise managers on absence-related risks, obligations, and required actions, including the management of escalated absence cases.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for people leaders and the Works Council on HR matters, including policies, employee relations, performance concerns, and workplace issues.
  • Manage HR requests through ServiceNow, ensuring timely and effective resolution of employee and manager enquiries.
  • Support local reporting and statutory submissions, including interactions with UWV and CBS.
  • Maintain HR data integrity through data quality and system maintenance activities within Workday and MK Basics.
Broader HR Business Partner Responsibilities
  • Manage employee relations matters, including disciplinary, grievance, and performance-related cases.
  • Coach and support managers on people-related matters and employment best practices.
  • Lead or support talent management, succession planning, and learning & development initiatives.
  • Contribute to workforce planning, organisational change, employee engagement, and retention activities.
  • Support the implementation of local and global HR programmes and initiatives.
Candidate Requirements
  • Previous experience in a P&C/HR role or similar Human Resources position within the Netherlands.
  • Strong knowledge of Dutch employment law, HR practices, and sickness absence regulations.
  • Dutch citizenship is required due to the need for access to government systems.
  • Availability to work a full-time 40-hour working week.
  • Experience working within an international or multinational organisation is highly desirable.
  • A degree in Human Resources or a related discipline is advantageous; however, proven practical experience is considered more valuable.
Key Competencies
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of responsibilities.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and influencing skills.
  • Proactive, pragmatic, and solution-oriented approach.
  • Ability to balance operational HR delivery with strategic HR partnership.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail

This opportunity would suit an experienced HR professional who is comfortable managing operational HR activities while also stepping into a broader HR Business Partner role, providing expert guidance across employee relations, talent, development, and organisational people matters within an international business environment.
