Job description

Blue Wireless Maritime is seeking a senior commercial leader with a recognised reputation and established network within the European maritime industry, with particular strength in the European river cruise market.

This is not a traditional sales management position. We are looking for a hands-on commercial leader who knows the market, knows the people who shape it, and can turn trusted industry relationships into new business.

The immediate priority is to strengthen and rebuild the commercial position of Blue Wireless Maritime, securing our position in European river cruise while developing opportunities in adjacent nearshore maritime markets.

The successful candidate will act as a senior commercial face of Blue Wireless Maritime, personally opening doors, developing opportunities and winning business, while building and leading the future Maritime commercial organisation.

The Opportunity:

Blue Wireless Maritime has an established position, customer base and reputation within the European river cruise industry and is entering the next phase of its development.

The opportunity is not simply to inherit an existing sales organisation. The successful candidate will have significant freedom to shape the commercial strategy, develop new markets and build the team required to deliver future growth.

European river cruise will remain the cornerstone of the business. From this position, we intend to expand further into adjacent markets such as ferries, tugboats, nearshore operations and other European maritime segments where our expertise in managed connectivity and network infrastructure creates value.

We are therefore looking for someone who combines deep industry credibility with the entrepreneurial drive to build.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own and drive the commercial growth of Blue Wireless Maritime.
  • Personally develop new business through an established maritime network and trusted industry relationships.
  • Strengthen our position within the European river cruise market and reconnect with existing and former industry relationships.
  • Identify and develop opportunities in adjacent European and nearshore maritime markets.
  • Represent Blue Wireless Maritime at executive level with shipowners, cruise operators, ship managers, shipyards, consultants and strategic partners.
  • Build a strong and qualified commercial pipeline and convert opportunities into sustainable revenue growth.
  • Develop strategic partnerships that strengthen the Blue Wireless Maritime ecosystem.
  • Work closely with Operations, Engineering and Service Delivery to translate customer requirements into commercially viable and scalable solutions.
  • Develop existing strategic accounts and identify opportunities for long-term customer growth.
  • Provide market intelligence and competitive insight to the leadership team.
  • Promote the Blue Wireless Maritime portfolio across LAN, WAN, managed network infrastructure and digital connectivity.
  • Build, shape and lead the future Maritime commercial team, with significant influence over its structure and recruitment.
  • Establish a professional and structured commercial way of working, including pipeline management, forecasting, CRM discipline and reporting.

Required Profile:

  • Extensive commercial experience within the maritime industry.
  • Strong knowledge of and an established network within the European river cruise market.
  • Recognised and respected within relevant parts of the maritime sector.
  • Established relationships with shipowners, operators, shipyards and key maritime decision makers.
  • Proven ability to use industry relationships to originate and develop new business.
  • Demonstrable track record of converting opportunities into commercial results.
  • Experience building, developing or leading commercial teams.
  • Entrepreneurial and comfortable operating in a business-building environment.
  • Able to combine the relationship-driven nature of the maritime industry with the structure and professionalism of an international corporate organisation.
  • Comfortable with CRM, structured pipeline management, forecasting and commercial reporting.
  • Affinity with enterprise networking, connectivity, telecommunications or digital infrastructure.
  • Fluent in English; additional European languages are an advantage.
  • Willingness to travel regularly within Europe and internationally where required.

Personal Attributes:

  • Hands-on and entrepreneurial – a commercial leader who leads from the front.
  • Commercially driven and focused on tangible results.
  • Relationship-driven, credible and well connected.
  • Comfortable opening doors personally rather than relying solely on traditional prospecting.
  • Able to operate strategically while remaining actively involved in customers and opportunities.
  • Professional and structured without losing the personal approach required in the maritime industry.
  • Comfortable working within a larger international and English-speaking organisation.
  • Collaborative across Commercial, Operations, Engineering and Service Delivery.
  • Capable of building and inspiring a high-performing commercial team.
  • Focused on converting long-term industry relationships into tangible and sustainable commercial growth.

What Success Looks Like:

Success in this role means establishing a strong and sustainable commercial engine for Blue Wireless Maritime.

  • Strengthening our commercial position within European river cruise.
  • Building a healthy and credible pipeline of new business.
  • Converting industry relationships into new customers and revenue.
  • Expanding into selected adjacent maritime markets.
  • Growing strategic relationships with existing customers and partners.
  • Building the commercial team required for the next phase of the business.
  • Establishing a professional, structured and predictable commercial operation.
  • Creating the foundation for significant long-term growth of Blue Wireless Maritime.
