Job summary

Insify in Amsterdam is hiring a senior finance leader to build the finance engine of a fast-growing insurer. You’ll automate reporting for the MT and tighten the monthly close, with ownership of reporting used by carriers, auditors and regulators.

You’ll shape cross‑team processes, challenge budgets and scale the function across Europe. You’ll combine strategy or operations consulting experience with hands‑on finance in a scaleup.

Qualifications

• Led projects in strategy or operations consulting and hands-on in a finance department, ideally at a scaleup.
• Knowledge of reviewing closes, challenging controllers and spotting issues in P&L or models.
• Ownership mindset: identify problems, propose fixes and implement them.
• Ability to automate processes; spreadsheets are a starting point, not the destination.
• Strong collaboration across teams and willingness to coach and grow the function.
• English fluency required; Dutch is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Automate reporting so the MT steers on this week’s numbers.
• Tighten monthly close and controls so entities run cleanly; own regulator/auditor reporting.
• Be sparring partner for teams; challenge budgets and assumptions.

What you’ll own in your first year

• Make the numbers instant. Automate our reporting so the MT steers on this week’s numbers, not last month's.
• A close you can trust. Tighten the monthly close and controls so every entity runs cleanly. You also own the reporting that carriers, auditors and regulators rely on.
• Think along, push back. Be the sparring partner for every team. Challenge business cases, budgets and assumptions, including your own team's.
• Lead change across teams. Own improvements that cut across departments, and take people with you.
• Grow the team. Coach the team and shape how finance grows with us.

Who you are

• You've led projects in strategy or operations consulting, and you’ve also worked hands‑on in a finance department, ideally at a scaleup.
• You know accounting well enough to review a close, challenge a controller and spot what’s wrong in a P&L or a model. You don’t need to book the entries yourself.
• You take ownership. You spot the problem, propose the fix and make it happen.
• You zoom in and out: deep in a reconciliation one hour, pitching a financing scenario the next.
• You automate by default. Spreadsheets are a starting point, not a destination.
• Bring energy and enjoy bringing structure to chaos.
• (Nice to have) Bring experience in insurance, fintech or another regulated environment.
• You work fluently in English; Dutch is a plus.
