Job summary

Mileway invites a seasoned Head of Data to lead the company’s data strategy and platform development in Amsterdam. You will own the Databricks data platform, data governance, and analytics enablement, guiding central data while empowering domain teams to publish their own data products.

You will report to the CTO, shape governance, and ensure enterprise standards, trusted metrics, and scalable, compliant data practices across the organization.

Qualifications

• Experience leading an enterprise data platform in a platform‑as‑a‑product model.
• Proven track record moving from central build to federated/self‑service delivery.
• Practical experience implementing domain data ownership or data contracts.
• Experience building/operating a Databricks lakehouse in production (Unity Catalog, dbt).
• Strong data governance ownership with stewardship and measurable adoption.

Responsibilities

• Own the strategic direction, operation and adoption of Mileway’s Databricks data platform.
• Complete migration from legacy data warehouse to Databricks and support decommissioning.
• Ensure the platform is scalable, secure, reliable and cost‑efficient with clear ownership.
• Drive the transition to a federated, self‑service model.
• Enable teams to publish data products using platform patterns and governance.
• Lead Data Council and enterprise data governance, including certification and stewardship.
• Establish trusted, certified enterprise metrics across Mileway.
