Job summary

MRL Consulting Group | Global Niche Technology Recruitment in Amsterdam is seeking a hands-on Fullstack Team Lead / Architect to own technical direction, architecture, engineering quality and delivery for a product group or internal platform.

You will remain hands-on with coding while mentoring engineers and collaborating with Product, QA, DevOps, Infrastructure and business stakeholders. The role emphasizes technical leadership and modernisation within a business-critical environment.

Qualifications

• Solid hands-on software engineering experience.
• Experience as a Technical Lead or Architect.
• Strong understanding of software architecture, API design and data modelling.
• Proven ability to lead design without formal people-management responsibility.
• Experience working with Product, QA, DevOps and Security teams.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical direction, architecture and engineering quality for an assigned product group or platform.
• Lead technical design discussions, architecture reviews, work breakdown and implementation planning.
• Remain hands-on with coding, design and production problem solving.
• Translate business priorities into practical technical solutions and delivery plans.
• Provide technical estimates and risk assessments.
• Review critical code changes and promote high standards for quality and maintainability.
• Mentor engineers through design/code reviews and coaching.
• Act as escalation point for complex defects and incidents.
• Lead root-cause analysis following production incidents.
• Identify debt and maintainability risks and propose modernization strategies.
• Establish documentation and knowledge-transfer practices.
• Coordinate with QA, DevOps, Security and Product teams on release-readiness.
• Support onboarding of engineers by explaining architecture and system behaviour.
• Promote pragmatic engineering practices across platforms.
