TNO offers a 9‑month graduation internship in grid modelling and energy systems. You will build a multi‑scale workflow that couples energy system optimisation with transmission grid models in PowerFactory and Python, evaluating how siting large‑scale generation affects congestion and reinforcement needs.

You will gain hands‑on experience with industry‑standard software and contribute to real projects, with supervision and opportunities to co‑author a publication. English communication required.

Qualificações

• Solid knowledge of power systems including load flow and contingency analysis.
• Experience with relevant grid modelling tools and scripting is a plus.
• Good command of English for technical reporting and communication.

Responsabilidades

• Build and verify a transmission grid model in PowerFactory from open data.
• Develop an automated Python interface mapping generation/load scenarios to the network model.
• Run load-flow and N-1 contingency analyses and feed results back to optimisation.
• Assess siting options for large-scale generation focusing on congestion and reinforcement needs.
• Document methodology and results in a thesis and report; potential for co-authored publication.
