Job summary

Quintel offers an internship program where you will engage in analysis and/or modelling work directly contributing to our mission. Depending on your background, you’ll assist the Consulting team or the Modelling & Development team, collaborating with advisors and modellers.

You’ll work 32–40 hours per week while pursuing a master’s degree in a relevant field, with strong English and ideally Dutch language skills, and a passion for sustainability and the energy transition.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a master’s degree in a relevant field (as stated in the ad)
• Proficient in English and ideally Dutch
• Experience with quantitative data analysis and/or modelling
• Familiar with (part of) the energy system
• Passionate about sustainability and the energy transition
• Enjoy solving complex, abstract challenges
• Communicate clearly and work well in a team setting

Responsibilities

• Assist with analysis and/or modelling work aligned with Quintel’s mission
• Support the Consulting or Modelling & Development teams
• Research developments in synthetic fuels production and energy scenarios
• Translate national energy scenarios to provinces/municipalities
• Create tools to improve ETM data processing or cost calculations

Job description

As an intern you will do analysis and/or modelling work that is directly relevant for Quintel’s mission. Depending on your background and skills, you’ll be oriented more toward supporting our Consulting team or our Modelling & Development team. You’ll work closely with our advisors and/or modellers on activities such as:

Oriented towards analysis:

• Research the latest developments in the production of synthetic fuels
• Determine how to translate national energy scenarios to provinces or municipalities
• Determine how to align definitions used in the ETM with (inter)national standards
• Compare tools currently used to explore solutions to grid congestion

Oriented towards modelling:

• Investigate options to improve cost calculations in the ETM
• Create a tool that simulates the heat flow of an industrial site
• Create a tool to perform a sensitivity analysis on the ETM
• Identify improvements for the data processing pipeline of the ETM
