Job summary

Van Oord offers a graduation internship within the Tender & Engineering group, focusing on Subsea Rock Installation. The project combines computational modelling in Gorinchem with physical scale testing in Moerdijk, to improve installation knowledge and future equipment design.

You will work with specialists, connect simulations with practical validation, and translate findings into engineering parameters for subsea systems.

Qualifications

• Master student in Civil or Offshore Engineering.
• Interest in subsea engineering and offshore installation.
• Analytical approach to technical challenges.
• Ability to structure research and communicate clear conclusions.

Responsibilities

• Investigate the interaction between rock grading and subsea rock installation equipment.
• Use DEM, possibly in combination with CFD, simulations to study rock behaviour and particle fluid interactions.
• Design, executing and analysing scale model tests to validate simulation results.
• Assess different rock sizes, shapes and gradings and their effect on installation behaviour.
• Translating research findings into parameters or recommendations for future engineering designs.
