Job summary

Booking.com is seeking an exceptional Director of Tax to lead global controversy and litigation strategy from Amsterdam. You will direct audits, disputes, and litigation across multiple jurisdictions, and oversee tax governance, controls, and compliance initiatives through the Tax Accounting team.

Qualifications

• Significant experience leading tax audits, disputes, settlements and litigation in a multinational group or major law/Big 4 practice.
• Deep technical experience across direct and indirect tax controversy matters, including DST and transfer pricing disputes.
• Demonstrated success managing high-value, high-sensitivity matters with tax authorities, external counsel and senior internal stakeholders.
• Strong judgment on technical risk assessment, escalation strategy, and executive communication.

Responsibilities

• Lead and direct Booking.com’s global tax controversy and litigation strategy, including audits, disputes and litigation across multiple jurisdictions.
• Oversee tax governance and controls, and ensure defensible, audit-ready tax positions.
• Provide senior technical oversight on tax positions arising through compliance and reporting processes.
• Manage relationships with external counsel and advisors, setting strategic direction and ensuring high-quality delivery.
• Lead a high-performing tax team and collaborate with Finance, Legal, Transfer Pricing and business stakeholders.
