Job summary

Destinusgroup is seeking a Director of Accounting & Controlling to own the integrity of group financial reporting across multiple entities in Europe. You will set IFRS and local GAAP standards, drive a scalable closing process, and act as the senior accounting authority reporting to the CFO.

You will lead a distributed finance organization, optimize ERP like Microsoft Dynamics 365, and partner with FP&A, Tax, Treasury, and Operations to ensure accurate schedules, audits, and statutory filings

Qualifications

• Extensive IFRS and European GAAP experience.
• Public company experience preferred.
• Proven track record in group close and consolidation at scale.
• Experience in multi-entity, multi-currency European environments.
• Strong manufacturing cost accounting and WIP knowledge.
• Fluent English; additional languages a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual group close across all consolidated entities.
• Own the group close calendar and drive execution across Accounting, Controlling, FP&A, Tax, Treasury, and regional finance teams.
• Act as the senior escalation point for complex accounting and close issues.
• Coordinate consolidation adjustments, intercompany eliminations, and foreign currency translation.
• Own and strengthen internal accounting controls, policies, and their application.
• Drive ERP improvements within Microsoft Dynamics 365 and related configurations.
• Own group-wide cost accounting standards across manufacturing entities.
• Lead the Operations Finance function and capture manufacturing costs including labor and WIP.
• Own the variance bridge process and accountability for deviations.
• Connect Cost Accounting with Operations and Program Management for forecasting.
• Partner with FP&A to align actuals, forecasts, and budgets.
• Own accounting judgments on inventory, WIP, and capitalisation under IAS 2.
• Govern the group chart of accounts for consolidation and reporting.
• Oversee balance sheet quality, reconciliations, and provisions.
• Collaborate with Treasury on working capital and capex accounting.
• Oversee AP/AR controls, cash conversion, and sub-ledger reconciliation.
• Drive DSO/DPO discipline and credit policies.
• Coordinate with external auditors and manage statutory audits.
• Ensure timely audit findings resolution and statutory filings.
• Standardize processes and controls across entities; reduce manual workarounds.
• Partner with IT/ERP teams to build scalable accounting and reporting structures (MS Dynamics 365).
• Own group accounting policies, SOPs, and training programs.
• Build a high-performing accounting and controlling organization across Europe.
• Mentor Controllers and Accounting Managers and act as technical escalation.
