Job description

As a Geotechnical Offshore Engineer, you will work on the design of anchoring and foundation solutions for complex offshore structures, SPM systems and FPSOs. Your focus will be on the interaction between soil conditions, anchor foundations, mooring loads and floating structures, combining geotechnical engineering with practical offshore installation knowledge.

You will be involved from the interpretation of site investigation data and geotechnical calculations through detailed anchor design, vendor coordination and offshore installation. This gives you the opportunity to follow your engineering all the way from the office to execution offshore.

What you will do
  • Prepare geotechnical designs for anchor points, including piles, monopiles, suction caissons and drag anchors
  • Perform geotechnical stability calculations for offshore foundations
  • Analyse and interpret site investigation and soil data for offshore and nearshore projects
  • Translate geotechnical conditions into engineering requirements for mooring, anchoring and foundation systems
  • Manage geotechnical interfaces with other engineering teams, ensuring loads, foundation behaviour and system requirements are properly integrated
  • Develop technical specifications and drawings for mooring system components and provide engineering guidance to vendors
  • Review vendor calculations, drawings and technical documentation to ensure compliance with project requirements
  • Prepare installation guidelines, procedures and drawings for offshore installation campaigns
  • Support client, vendor and certifying authority reviews and assist in obtaining the required technical approvals
Where you will work

With this trusted client in the Amsterdam area we have a long-lasting relationship. It is a privately owned company that delivers floating energy solutions and complex mooring equipment to the global oil & gas and renewables industries. Besides having proven capabilities in engineering and developing installations for harsh offshore conditions, they own and operate their own fleet of FPSOs. A welcoming organization in which people with the right proactive attitude will get opportunities to prove themselves and grow.

  • Challenging engineering environment, particularly in developing equipment for extreme offshore conditions
  • Organization with a cooperative mindset and open communication style, which allows for professional progress
  • Drive for new technologies in floating sustainable energy solutions
  • For the size of the projects, a relatively small multi-disciplinary engineering team, with a focus on conceptual and basic design
  • Combining in one close-knit company: EPCI contractor and offshore fleet-owner-operator
What you already have
  • +3 years of experience in the geotechnical analysis of offshore structures
  • BSc./ MSc. degree in Civil Engineering, Geosciences, Geotechnical Engineering or a comparable discipline
  • Affinity with mooring systems and floating offshore structures, ideally including FPSOs or SPM systems
  • Experience with Orcaflex, Ariane or similar
  • An analytical and solution-finding approach, since you will be the one solving multi-disciplinary engineering puzzles
  • A communicative approach, as you can only be successful in this role if you get all parties involved aligned with your solutions
  • Excellent communication skills and fluent English, so you can communicate efficiently with your multicultural team, authorities and clients worldwide
  • Available for full-time work in the Amsterdam area, and willing to travel occasionally to yards, suppliers and clients
  • More time to enjoy life: 30 paid holidays every year.
  • Extra support for sustainable living: Sustainable Life & Work Bonus.
  • Business travel covered: Insurance included whenever you travel for work.
  • We pay the journey: Interview and commuting costs are reimbursed.
  • Expand your network: Meet professionals from across the Dutch maritime industry at exclusive events.
