Job summary

Target is hiring a General Merchandise Expert to help guests enjoy a friendly, efficient shopping experience. You will greet customers, assist with product searches, and support the team with restocking and merchandising tasks in a fast-paced store environment.

This role requires strong guest-service skills, teamwork, and the ability to handle varied hours, including nights and weekends. Training will cover safety policies and store procedures to ensure smooth operations.

Qualifications

• Guest service fundamentals and experience supporting a guest-first culture across the store.
• Experience in retail business fundamentals, including department sales trends, inventory replenishment, and process efficiency and improvement.
• Executing daily/weekly workload to support business priorities and deliver on sales goals.

Responsibilities

• Create an Easy, Inspiring and Friendly guest experience by delivering on the following commitments.
• Help guests find what they need and/or resolve issues to ensure a smooth, easy shopping experience.
• End every guest transaction with a sincere thank you.
• Actively support team efforts and assist peers in other areas while maintaining a positive and respectful attitude.
• Execute daily tasks assigned to you by your leader to help achieve goals that align with business priorities including receiving products, restocking shelves, organizing the backroom, merchandise set up and maintenance, pricing activities, and putting up promotional signs for GM areas.
• If certified, operate power equipment to move merchandise or store fixtures.
• Learn and execute operational procedures, such as setting and organizing merchandise, managing product accuracy and stock levels, and maintaining sales floor areas, affect inventory management, store profitability, and product availability.
• Follow all Target policies and safety procedures, adhere to role‑specific guidelines (e.g., food safety, pricing), and help maintain a safe, compliant workplace by reporting and correcting hazards.
• Support guest services such as back‑up cashier, and digital fulfillment processes (such as picking and packing orders or delivering pickup orders to guests) and maintain compliance culture while executing those duties, such as federal, state, and local adult beverage laws.
