Job summary

YUST Utrecht is recruiting a General Manager to lead the pre-opening phase and ongoing operations of a hybrid hospitality concept combining accommodation, events and F&B. You will manage a diverse team, own the P&L, and drive revenue with cross-functional collaboration across Revenue, Sales and Marketing.

The role requires strong commercial acumen, proven leadership, and fluency in Dutch and English to engage with local partners and guests as YUST expands in Europe.

Qualifications

• Experience as a General Manager or senior operational leader in hospitality.
• Strong commercial and financial acumen with P&L, budgeting and forecasting experience.
• Experience across hospitality revenue streams including accommodation, F&B and events.
• Pre-opening experience is a major plus; ability to build teams and launch operations.

You understand that running a hybrid hospitality concept takes more than traditional hotel management. Different guests, different revenue streams and different experiences all come together under one roof. You see the opportunities this creates and know how to turn them into a successful business.

You're hands-on when needed, strategic when it matters, and confident making decisions and taking ownership. You enjoy building something new, aren't afraid to challenge the status quo and know how to bring people along with you.

As General Manager, you'll have full responsibility for the performance of YUST Utrecht, working closely with the central support teams and reporting directly to the COO.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING ALL DAY

• Lead the Pre-Opening: Take ownership of the operational pre-opening journey, from recruitment and team development to systems, procedures, supplier coordination and operational readiness. Make sure everything comes together for a successful launch.
• Build & inspire your team: Recruit, develop and lead a passionate, high-performing team. Create a culture of ownership, collaboration and genuine hospitality where people feel empowered to make a difference.
• Own the business performance: Take full responsibility for the property's P&L, driving revenue, managing costs and delivering sustainable profitability. Lead budgeting, forecasting and performance reviews, translating insights into action.
• Drive commercial success: Work closely with Revenue Management, Sales and Marketing to maximise performance across short stay, long stay, F&B and events. Identify new business opportunities and build a strong position in the Utrecht market.
• Deliver an outstanding guest experience: Ensure consistently high standards across all departments while creating memorable experiences for hotel guests, long-stay residents, event visitors and locals alike.
• Make YUST part of Utrecht: Build meaningful relationships with local businesses, organisations and the wider community. Position YUST as more than a place to stay — a destination where people meet, connect, work, eat and experience the city.
• Create operational excellence: Establish efficient ways of working, clear standards and strong collaboration across departments. Continuously improve processes, productivity and service quality without losing the personal YUST touch.
• Think beyond opening day: Build a strong foundation for long-term success, developing your team, strengthening the business and contributing ideas and best practices as YUST continues to grow.

GOT THE SKILLS?

• Proven experience as a General Manager, Hotel Manager or in a comparable senior operational leadership role within hospitality.
• Strong commercial and financial acumen, with demonstrated experience managing budgets, P&L, forecasting and business performance.
• Experience across multiple hospitality revenue streams, ideally including accommodation, F&B and events. Familiarity with long-stay or hybrid hospitality concepts is a strong advantage.
• Pre-opening experience is a major plus, along with the ability to build teams, establish operations and turn plans into reality.
• A natural people leader who knows how to attract, develop and inspire teams while creating a positive, accountable working culture.
• An entrepreneurial, solution-oriented mindset with the confidence to take ownership, challenge existing ways of working and spot new opportunities.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with a genuine interest in connecting with the local community.
• Comfortable working with hospitality systems, performance data and operational KPIs to drive continuous improvement.
• Fluent in Dutch and English.
