Qualifications

• 7–9 years of experience in fund accounting, fund controlling, or financial control.
• Experience in Alternative Investment Fund Manager or related structures.
• Strong understanding of NAV, capital calls, distributions and investor reporting.
• Experience managing relationships with fund administrators, auditors and depositaries.

This position plays a key role in overseeing fund accounting, financial reporting, investor reporting, valuation processes, and the operational integrity of multiple alternative investment vehicles. The successful candidate will work closely with Portfolio Managers, Finance, Investor Relations, Depositaries, Auditors, Fund Administrators, and Regulators, acting as a key stakeholder within the firm's finance function.

This role is well suited to professionals who have developed strong fund control expertise within alternative asset managers, fund administrators, private markets firms, or specialized financial services environments.

Key Responsibilities

Fund Accounting & Financial Control

• Oversee the accounting and financial administration of multiple investment funds and related entities.
• Review monthly, quarterly, and annual NAV calculations prepared internally or by external fund administrators.
• Ensure accuracy of fund accounting records in accordance with relevant accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
• Monitor fund cash positions, liquidity movements, capital activity, and fund expenses.
• Review and approve fund-level journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statements.

Financial & Investor Reporting

• Lead the preparation and review of quarterly and annual financial statements.
• Coordinate investor reporting processes, including capital account statements and performance reporting.
• Support the preparation of management information packs for senior leadership and investment committees.
• Deliver timely reporting to regulators, depositaries, auditors, and other external stakeholders.

Valuation & Portfolio Oversight

• Participate in the valuation process for portfolio investments across alternative asset classes.
• Challenge and review valuation methodologies and assumptions to ensure consistency and transparency.
• Collaborate with investment teams to understand portfolio developments and their impact on valuations.

Audit & Regulatory Compliance

• Coordinate annual external audits and act as a primary contact for auditors.
• Ensure compliance with relevant AIFMD, IFRS, Dutch regulatory, and fund governance requirements.
• Support regulatory filings and reporting obligations across fund structures.
• Maintain and enhance internal control frameworks surrounding fund operations.

Process Improvement & Business Partnering

• Drive automation, operational efficiency, and continuous improvement initiatives within the fund finance function.
• Work closely with portfolio management, legal, compliance, operations, and investor relations teams.
• Assist with fund launches, restructurings, fund closings, and strategic projects.
• Contribute to the implementation of new systems, controls, and reporting solutions.

Candidate Profile

Required Experience

• 7-9 years of experience within Fund Accounting, Fund Controlling, Fund Finance, Financial Control, or similar positions.
• Proven experience working within an Alternative Investment Fund Manager (AIFM), Private Equity firm, Private Credit fund, Infrastructure fund, Real Estate fund, Hedge Fund, or a specialist Fund Administrator servicing alternative funds.
• Strong understanding of fund structures, capital calls, distributions, NAV calculations, waterfalls, carried interest, and investor reporting.
• Experience managing relationships with fund administrators, auditors, depositaries, and external service providers.

Technical Knowledge

• Strong understanding of IFRS, Dutch GAAP, and alternative investment fund accounting principles.
• Knowledge of AIFMD and the regulatory environment applicable to alternative investment managers.
• Experience with complex investment vehicles and multi-entity fund structures.
• Advanced Excel capabilities and familiarity with fund accounting platforms and reporting systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
• Professional qualification preferred (RA, ACCA, ACA, CPA, CA, or equivalent).
