Job summary

oneshot.earth is hiring our first in-house Full-Stack Software Engineer to build the OCP registry and internal tools. You will work with the Technical Product Manager and a part-time backend engineer, with our fractional CTO guiding major architecture decisions.

You will become the go-to technical voice in a small team of carbon-market specialists, owning features end-to-end and contributing to platform reliability and data integrity from day one.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years building production web applications.
• Strong TypeScript and JavaScript; server with Node.js and client with React/Next.js.
• Solid PostgreSQL design and SQL skills.
• Hands-on AWS and CI/CD experience.
• Good API design, testing, code review and documentation.
• Comfortable working independently in a small team and growth into leadership.
• Clear written and spoken English; based in the Netherlands.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain the OCP registry and tools (React/Next.js, Node.js/TypeScript, PostgreSQL, AWS).
• Translate product requirements into technical specs and deliver them end-to-end.
• Design secure, RESTful APIs for front end and external partners.
• Build integrations with market infrastructure and payment providers.
• Ensure reliability and security: CI/CD, monitoring, backups, access control.
• Keep registry data accurate and auditable for credits and retirements.
• Review code and collaborate with back-end engineer toward lead role.
• Explain trade-offs and estimates to the team with CTO input.

oneshot.earth helps carbon markets operate faster, coordinate more easily and run more transparently. We focus on super-pollutants such as methane, where cutting emissions today has an outsized effect on near-term warming.

We run the Open Carbon Protocol (OCP), a new, data-first, transparent carbon credit registry. The OCP tracks projects and credits from issuance to retirement and connects to the wider market infrastructure, including marketplaces and meta-registries such as the Climate Action Data Trust. We work closely with standards bodies, project developers, VVBs, and intermediaries/buyers. The role

We are hiring our first full-time, in-house Full-Stack Software Engineer to build the OCP registry and our internal tools, and to grow into owning them end-to-end. You will work with our Technical Product Manager and our part-time back-end engineer. Our fractional CTO will be on hand for the big architecture decisions. Over time, you will become the go-to technical voice in a team of carbon-market specialists.

• Location: Netherlands, remote-first, with 1-2 office days a month at our co-working space at Norrsken Amsterdam
• Reports to: Technical Product Manager / Chief Product Officer
• Start: Immediate, up to January 2027

What you'll do

• Build and maintain the OCP registry and related tools across the stack: React/Next.js front end, Node.js/TypeScript APIs, PostgreSQL data model and AWS infrastructure.
• Turn product requirements into technical specs with our Product Manager, then build, test and ship them.
• Design and document secure, well-structured RESTful APIs, for our own front end and for external partners and integrations.
• Build integrations with market infrastructure, such as meta-registries (e.g. the Climate Action Data Trust), payment providers (e.g. Stripe) and partner systems.
• Help keep the platform reliable and secure: CI/CD (GitHub Actions), monitoring, backups, access control and performance
• Make sure registry data is accurate and auditable, because credits, issuances and retirements must be traceable.
• Review code and work closely with our part-time back-end engineer, and take on more architecture and ownership as you grow into the lead engineer role.
• Explain technical trade-offs and estimates to the team in plain language, with our fractional CTO as a sounding board.

What you'll bring

• 3-5 years building and running production web applications, with hands-on experience on both front end and back end
• Strong TypeScript and JavaScript; Node.js (Express or similar) on the server and React (ideally Next.js) on the client
• Solid relational database skills: PostgreSQL schema design and SQL
• Hands-on experience with AWS (e.g. EC2, RDS, S3, Lambda, Route 53, SES) and CI/CD pipelines
• A good grasp of API design, plus habits around testing, code review and documentation
• Comfortable working independently in a small team: you can scope work, make sensible calls and flag risks early, and you want to take on more architecture and technical leadership over time
• Clear written and spoken English
• Based in the Netherlands

Nice to have

• Experience (or interest) in climate tech, carbon markets, registries, fintech or other systems where data integrity and audit trails matter
• Blockchain or distributed-ledger experience, or work with tokenised assets
• Some UI/UX sense: turning designs (e.g. Figma) into responsive, accessible interfaces
• Experience at an early-stage startup or in a small engineering team
• Dutch language skills

What we offer

• Salary of €65,000 - €75,000 gross per year, depending on experience, plus 8% holiday allowance
