Royal Houdijk is looking for a Front-end Developer who combines UX, technology and innovation to build intuitive interfaces for HMIs, customer portals and web applications. You will translate user needs into digital solutions that help operators and customers work efficiently.

In a modern DevOps environment, you contribute through design, development, deployment and monitoring, with opportunities to grow into architecture, design systems, or technical leadership.

Competenze

• Bachelor level HBO or equivalent in Software Engineering, CS, or Interaction Design.
• Experience with UX/UI design, prototyping and modern front-end tech.
• Familiar with REST APIs, Git, CI/CD; knowledge of HMIs is a plus.

At Royal Houdijk, you will develop intuitive and reliable user interfaces for machine operation, web applications, and customer portals. You will play a key role in translating user needs into smart digital solutions that contribute to the efficient control of our advanced systems for the processing and packaging of bakery products.

About the job

You will work at the intersection of front-end development, UX/UI design, and industrial automation. By combining process information, functional requirements, and user needs, you will create user-friendly solutions that enable operators and customers to work efficiently and effectively.

Within a modern DevOps environment, you will be involved throughout the entire software lifecycle, from design and development to implementation, monitoring, and maintenance. Depending on your experience, you may join as a junior, medior, or senior Front-end Developer, with opportunities to further develop your expertise in architecture, design systems, or technical leadership.

Your key responsibilities:

• Translate user requirements and customer needs into intuitive user flows, prototypes, and interfaces.
• Develop reusable front-end components for HMIs, customer portals, and web applications.
• Integrate front-end solutions with APIs, machine control systems, and backend services.
• Ensure quality, usability, security, and maintainability of software solutions.
• Contribute to Git, CI/CD, and release processes, including deployment and monitoring.
• Collaborate with engineers, users, and customers to continuously improve digital solutions.
• For senior professionals: provide direction for front-end architecture and mentor colleagues.
• Actively contributing ideas to improve procurement processes, focusing on quality optimization, delivery reliability, and cost reduction.

• A monthly salary between €4.000 and €6.000 (based on a 40-hour workweek), with opportunities for further growth through specialization or career development.
• 27 vacation days and 13 additional leave days (ADV) in accordance with the Metalektro collective labor agreement.

• A fixed monthly commuting allowance of €0.25 per kilometer.

What you bring

You combine a strong understanding of user experience and visual design with a solid technical foundation. You are comfortable working independently while actively collaborating with colleagues, users, and customers. You can clearly explain technical and functional decisions and are committed to delivering high-quality solutions.

Key qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree level (HBO) or equivalent, preferably in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or Interaction Design.
• Experience with UX/UI design, prototyping, and modern front-end technologies, including Figma, HTML, CSS, JavaScript/TypeScript, React, and Next.js.
• Experience with responsive web development, REST APIs, Git, and CI/CD; affinity with industrial HMIs and knowledge of FactoryTalk Optix, Azure, SharePoint, or AI integrations is a plus.
• Good command of both Dutch and English, spoken and written.
• Providing a Certificate of Conduct (VOG) may be part of the application process.
