Job summary

Queen Square Recruitment seeks an OT Security Engineer on a freelance basis in Arnhem, Netherlands. The role focuses on securing industrial control systems within critical infrastructure, with a live OT security programme and NIS2 alignment.

You will assess, harden, and monitor OT security across SCADA/EMS environments, implement segmentation and privileged access controls, and work with control room engineers to bridge OT/IT security practices while maintaining safety.

Qualifications

• Hands-on OT/ICS security experience (not generic IT security).
• Knowledge of IEC 62443 and NIS2 requirements.
• Experience with OT network segmentation and privileged access management.
• Familiarity with SCADA/EMS platforms (Siemens Spectrum Power, GE PowerOn, Schneider ADMS or similar).
• Fluent English; Dutch a plus but not required.

We\'re working with a major Dutch energy and critical infrastructure operator on a live OT security programme and are looking for an OT Security Engineer to join the team on a freelance basis. This is a chance to work directly on securing the industrial control systems that keep critical national infrastructure running, at a time when NIS2 compliance has made this one of the most pressing priorities in the sector.

What you\'ll do

• Assess and harden security across SCADA, EMS, and DMS environments


• Implement and maintain OT network segmentation, privileged access controls, and jump box architecture


• Support NIS2 and IEC 62443 compliance activities, audits, and documentation


• Monitor and respond to security incidents within isolated OT networks


• Work closely with control room engineers and IT security teams to bridge OT/IT security practices without compromising operational safety

What you\'ll need

• Hands on OT/ICS security experience, not corporate IT security alone


• Working knowledge of IEC 62443 and NIS2 compliance requirements


• Practical experience with OT network segmentation, privileged access management, and session recording/monitoring tools


• Understanding of SCADA/EMS platforms (Siemens Spectrum Power, GE PowerOn, Schneider ADMS, or similar)


• Fluent English, Dutch a plus but not essential

Nice to have: experience working within a Dutch TSO, DSO, port authority, or other critical infrastructure operator.
