Job summary

Mediahuis is seeking a Freelance Full Stack Engineer to design and build a central Product Service within our B2B technology environment. You will combine development, integration, and architecture to create a scalable foundation for product data across applications.

You’ll work hands-on, implement automated testing, and collaborate with internal teams. The role is freelance until Dec 2026 with a start ASAP; remote work from Belgium or the Netherlands is possible.

Qualifications

• Experienced Full Stack Engineer with a strong background in backend development, databases, API development and system integrations.
• Able to contribute to solution architecture while remaining hands-on in development.
• Proficient in English; Dutch not required.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop a central Product Service to consolidate product information.

You'll combine your expertise in software development, system integration and solution architecture to create a scalable foundation for managing and distributing product information across different applications.

As a Full Stack Engineer, you'll play a key role in developing a central Product Service that makes product information from our booking system available to other applications in a standardized and reliable way. You'll help shape the technical architecture , build the necessary integrations and establish a solid foundation for automated testing , working closely with our internal technology teams.

Designing and developing a central product database to consolidate and structure product information from our existing booking system.

Building integrations between the source system and the product database , ensuring reliable and consistent data exchange.

Developing an API layer that makes standardized product information available to other applications , including a new Quote Management System.

Contributing to the solution architecture , translating functional requirements into a scalable and maintainable technical design.

Implementing an automated testing approach to safeguard the quality , reliability and maintainability of the solution.

Taking a hands‑on role in development , combining technical design with the actual implementation of the solution.

Collaborating closely with internal engineers and stakeholders to align technical decisions and ensure successful delivery.

This is a freelance assignment until the end of December 2026 (extension possible) , with a start as soon as possible . You can work from either Belgium or the Netherlands .

You're an experienced Full Stack Engineer with a strong background in backend development, databases, API development and system integrations . You're comfortable contributing to solution architecture while remaining actively involved in hands‑on development. You understand how to design scalable and maintainable services, integrate data from existing systems and establish effective automated testing practices . You're analytical , pragmatic and able to work independently while collaborating closely with internal engineering teams. You take ownership of technical challenges and translate architectural concepts into working solutions . Professional proficiency in English is sufficient ; knowledge of Dutch is not required .

Experience with product data management , centralized data services or quote management solutions is considered an asset.
