Job description

FPGA Systems Designer – Model-Based Development for Advanced Aerospace & Industrial Systems
About the Company

Our client is an innovative technology company specializing in high-speed, lightweight systems for advanced aerospace and industrial applications. Their solutions contribute to the development of energy-efficient technologies that support global sustainability goals, including the transition to net-zero CO₂ emissions. With a strong foundation in high-performance systems the company has grown into a global player in the field of engineering for aerospace. It employs over 250 professionals across several locations in Western and Eastern Europe.

The Engineering Challenge

The company develops innovative compact, high-tech systems that are being adopted in aerospace and industrial environments. These systems are of the highest quality used in applications such as environmental- and thermal control. As the industry moves toward more sustainable and electrified solutions, the company is focused on pushing the boundaries of performance, integration, and reliability. Model Based Design is used as for simulation, verification, and automatic code generation, with the advantage that it allows engineers to validate concepts early, reduce errors, and speed up development.

Your Role as FPGA Engineer

The FPGA engineer works in Simulink (instead of writing designs directly in VHDL). The benefit is that the engineer can design, simulate, and optimize the system at a higher abstraction level, while still generating efficient VHDL code for implementation. You will join a multidisciplinary engineering team and focus on digital design for embedded control systems. Your work will involve designing, implementing, testing, and documenting FPGA-based solutions for real-time control in compact, safety-critical environments. You are proactive, hands‑on, and comfortable working in a dynamic setting. Collaboration is key, and you enjoy working closely with other engineers to solve complex challenges.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, implement, and test digital control solutions using FPGAs
  • Develop supporting tools and scripts for testing and validation
  • Contribute to research and innovation projects exploring new technologies
  • Create documentation for certification and internal knowledge sharing
Your Profile:
  • BSc or MSc in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline
  • At least 5 years of relevant industry experience working with FPGA's
  • Proven experience with FPGA design, debugging, and verification (preferably with Xilinx platforms)
  • Proficiency in VHDL and simulation tools, with scripting experience
  • Familiarity with embedded software development and test automation (e.g., MATLAB, Python, TCL)
  • Experience with model-based design (e.g., Simulink HDL Coder) is a plus
  • Understanding of the full product development lifecycle
  • Strong interest in digital design and continuous learning
  • Excellent communication skills in English and a collaborative mindset
What’s Offered:
  • A challenging role in a high-tech, innovative environment
  • 7% annual bonus
  • 40 vacation days (based on full-time employment)
  • Commuting allowance
  • Pension plan
