Job summary

ENTER bv is seeking an FPGA Engineer to design and implement VHDL firmware for complex electronic and mechatronic systems. You will own the full development cycle from requirements to validation in lab and real machine environments.

You will collaborate with electronics, software and mechatronics teams, using Altera Quartus and Xilinx ISE, ModelSim or QuestaSim for verification, and debugging with ILA/ChipScope. Fluency in English is required; Dutch is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering required.
  • Minimum 5 years of FPGA design experience with VHDL.
  • Experience with RTL, synthesis and timing closure.
  • Proficient with Altera Quartus and/or Xilinx ISE.
  • Familiar with ModelSim and/or QuestaSim simulation tools.
  • Hands-on FPGA debugging with ILA, ChipScope or SignalTap.
  • Comfortable using lab equipment for testing and validation.
  • Clear communication in English; Dutch a plus.

What Will You Do as FPGA Engineer

As an FPGA Engineer, you design and implement VHDL-based firmware solutions for complex electronic and mechatronic systems. You work on high-performance machines and modules where reliability, timing accuracy and efficient hardware/software interaction are critical.

You are responsible for the full FPGA development cycle: from defining requirements and designing firmware architectures to implementation, simulation and validation in both lab setups and real machine environments. You act as the technical point of contact for FPGA-related topics and collaborate closely with electronics architects and engineers from software, electronics and mechatronics disciplines.

Do You Recognize Yourself In This

Do you recognize yourself in this?

  • You hold a bachelor's or master's degree in Electrical Engineering
  • You have at least 5 years of experience in FPGA design using VHDL
  • You have experience with RTL, synthesis, compilation and timing closure
  • You have worked with FPGA design tools such as Altera Quartus and/or Xilinx ISE
  • You have experience with simulation tools such as ModelSim and/or QuestaSim
  • You have hands-on experience with FPGA debugging tools such as ILA, ChipScope or SignalTap
  • You are comfortable using lab equipment for testing and validation
  • You enjoy working with hardware and software engineers at a technical level
  • You are analytical, pragmatic, proactive and solution-oriented
  • You communicate clearly and are fluent in English
  • Dutch language skills are a plus
  • Affinity with mechatronics and control systems is a plus
