Job summary

Michael Page is representing a client in Utrecht seeking an experienced FP&A Manager to lead budgeting, forecasting and performance analysis across the organisation. You will develop financial models and provide actionable insights on revenue, margins, OPEX and cash flow, working closely with Operations, Sales and Supply Chain.

The role requires a degree in Finance/Business Economics, 7–10 years of relevant experience, strong Excel skills and proficiency with Power BI and ERP systems.

Qualifications

• Completed HBO or university degree in Finance, Business Economics, Accountancy, Finance & Control or a comparable discipline.
• Approximately 7–10 years of finance experience, with substantial FP&A, Business Control or Commercial Finance.
• Preferably experience in logistics, transportation, or an operationally intensive environment.
• Proven budgeting, forecasting and management reporting experience.
• Strong financial modelling and scenario-analysis capabilities.
• Experience analysing operational and commercial performance alongside financial results.
• Advanced knowledge of Excel.
• Experience with Power BI or comparable BI tools.
• Experience working with an ERP or enterprise finance system.
• Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills.
• English proficiency is required, Dutch is a strong advantage.
• Past coaching or management of finance professionals is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead the annual budgeting and long-term planning process.
• Own the periodic forecasting process, including rolling forecasts and scenario analysis.
• Prepare monthly management reporting with commentary on performance.
• Analyse actual results versus budget/forecast and identify drivers.
• Develop financial models to support strategic decisions.
• Provide insights into revenue, gross margin, OPEX, EBITDA and cash flow.
• Analyse logistics KPIs: volumes, costs, capacity utilisation.
• Conduct profitability analyses for customers, contracts and routes.
• Build business cases for investments and new opportunities.
• Collaborate with Operations, Sales, Supply Chain and Finance to boost performance.
• Monitor risks and opportunities and challenge assumptions.
• Improve dashboards and management reports; automate FP&A processes.
• Support senior management with scenario modelling and ad hoc analyses.
• Develop a high-performing FP&A team.

Job Description

• Lead the annual budgeting and long-term planning process across the organisation
• Own the periodic forecasting process, including rolling forecasts and scenario analysis
• Prepare monthly management reporting and provide clear commentary on financial performance
• Analyse actual results against budget, forecast and prior year, identifying the underlying business drivers
• Develop financial models to support strategic and operational decision-making
• Provide management with clear insights into revenue, gross margin, operating expenses, EBITDA and cash flow
• Analyse logistics-related KPIs, including volumes, transportation costs, warehouse costs, productivity and capacity utilisation
• Perform customer, contract and route profitability analyses and identify opportunities to improve margins
• Develop business cases for investments, new customers, operational projects and commercial opportunities
• Work closely with Operations, Sales, Supply Chain and Finance to improve financial performance
• Monitor business performance and proactively identify financial risks and opportunities
• Challenge operational and commercial stakeholders on assumptions, results and improvement initiatives
• Improve existing dashboards, management reports and performance indicators
• Support senior management with scenario modelling and ad hoc strategic analyses
• Drive further automation and professionalisation of the FP&A function
• Coach and develop FP&A and finance colleagues and contribute to building a high-performing finance team

The Successful Applicant

• A completed HBO or university degree in Finance, Business Economics, Accountancy, Finance & Control or a comparable discipline
• Approximately 7 to 10 years of relevant finance experience, with a substantial part of that experience in FP&A, Business Control or Commercial Finance
• Previous experience in the logistics, transportation, supply chain or another operationally intensive environment is strongly preferred
• Demonstrable experience with budgeting, forecasting and management reporting
• Strong financial modelling and scenario-analysis capabilities
• Experience analysing operational and commercial performance alongside financial results
• Advanced knowledge of Excel
• Experience with Power BI or comparable business intelligence and visualisation tools
• Experience working with an ERP or enterprise finance system
• Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills
• The ability to present complex financial information in a clear and commercially relevant way
• Professional proficiency in English, with Dutch being a strong advantage
• Previous experience coaching or managing finance professionals is preferred
