Job summary

CowManager is looking for a Firmware Engineer to work on software that runs in our embedded sensors and network components. You will be part of a multidisciplinary team capable of shaping architecture and future product development.

You should have 5+ years in embedded software, strong C and Python skills, and experience with low-power systems and RTOS. The Harmelen office hosts a collaborative, innovative environment on a working dairy farm.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Embedded Systems, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or a similar field.
• At least 5 years of embedded software development experience.
• Strong knowledge of C.
• Experience with Python.
• Experience with low-power systems.
• Knowledge of 802.15.4, Zigbee and Bluetooth.
• Experience with bare-metal development.
• Experience with FreeRTOS, Zephyr or Embedded Linux.
• Ability to read and understand electronic schematics.
• Experience with measurement equipment such as oscilloscopes and logic analyzers.
• Good command of English.

Responsibilities

• Designing, developing and maintaining firmware for sensors and network components
• Developing software primarily in C and Python
• Working on energy-efficient embedded solutions
• Implementing and optimizing wireless communication protocols
• Developing software for bare-metal systems and RTOS platforms
• Analyzing and solving complex technical challenges
• Supporting testing, validation and quality improvements
• Collaborating with hardware engineers, software developers, testers and product management
• Contributing to architecture choices and future technical developments
