Job summary

Van Hessen seeks a Financial Controller to lead financial operations in a dynamic, international production setting. You will combine strong analytical skills with a hands-on and coaching leadership style to drive accurate reporting and strategic insight.

In this role you will manage monthly closings, reporting, payroll, VAT, and liaise with external auditors, while developing the finance team and ensuring compliance across five entities.

Qualifications

• HBO/bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business economics or related field.
• Extensive experience in a large international organisation, preferably in production.
• Strong knowledge of financial processes, VAT, WKR, tax and related laws.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to monthly, quarterly and annual closing processes and ensure accuracy of financial figures.
• Prepare management and production reports and translate analyses into steering information.
• Oversee payroll administration, annual financial statements and VAT returns for five entities.
• Deliver financial analysis and reports to support strategic decisions.
• Provide coaching leadership to the finance team and foster development.
• Ensure compliance with laws and regulations and anticipate changes.
• Be primary contact for the external auditor.

Responsibilities

• Actively contribute to the monthly, quarterly and annual closing processes and safeguard the quality and reliability of financial figures
• Prepare management and production reports and translate analyses into clear steering information
• Responsible for payroll administration, annual financial statements and VAT returns for five entities
• Deliver financial analysis and reports that support well‑founded strategic and operational decision‑making
• Provide coaching leadership to a team of finance professionals and stimulate their professional and personal development
• Ensure compliance with laws and regulations and proactively anticipate changes
• Be the primary point of contact for the external auditor

About you

• An HBO/bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Business Economics or related field
• Extensive work experience within a complex, international organisation (preferably in a production environment)
• Solid knowledge of financial processes and relevant legislation (including VAT returns, WKR, legal and tax matters)
• Experience with consolidation software (such as Hyperion) is a plus
• A coaching leadership style and the ambition to further develop in this area
• Fluency in both Dutch and English languages are essential
• Resilient and decisive approach with a service‑orientated mindset
