Job summary

Virtuagym, a fast-growing health & fitness SaaS company headquartered in Amsterdam, seeks a Financial Controller to safeguard reporting integrity and drive improvement across tax, AR, and revenue control. You will collaborate with CFO and the Finance team to strengthen controls, optimize processes, and support the scale-up journey.

Ideal candidates bring 3–5 years in financial control, Dutch GAAP/IFRS knowledge, and hands-on ERP experience.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of experience in financial control, accounting, or audit (Big 4 or industry)
• A degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles (Dutch GAAP and/or IFRS)
• Hands‑on experience with tax (VAT/ICP, CIT) and revenue/AR processes
• Proven ability to improve controls, processes, or reporting
• Comfortable working with data, systems, and digging into details to solve issues
• Ownership and follow-through on commitments
• Fluent in English; Dutch is a plus
• Experience with ERP systems; NetSuite, Salesforce, or Stripe is a strong advantage

Responsibilities

• Strengthen and improve internal controls to ensure accurate, reliable, and auditable financial data
• Support tax compliance (VAT, ICP, CIT) and statutory filings in collaboration with advisors
• Own and improve AR and revenue control, including reconciliations, revenue recognition, and billing accuracy
• Run and optimize key reconciliations (AR, intercompany, bank) and balance sheet substantiation
• Contribute to monthly close and year-end audit (journal entries, PBC, schedules, walkthroughs)
• Identify gaps, streamline processes, and drive automation across systems (NetSuite, Salesforce, Stripe)
• Partner with Finance leadership to deliver on key priorities and continuously improve ways of working

What this role looks like

As Financial Controller, you will join an enthusiastic and ambitious finance team. You will work closely with our CFO, Finance Management and the wider Finance team, supporting our control, compliance and reporting agenda across the group. The role is broad by design: depending on your strengths and interests, you can grow your scope across compliance and revenue control over time.

What you will own as Financial Controller
