Job description

ChainCraft is on a mission to make chemistry circular. Through proprietary fermentation technology, we convert agrifood residues into high-performance biobased fatty acids, replacing fossil and palm-based inputs across industries ranging from personal care and animal nutrition to industrial lubricants and food & fragrance.

We are in an active scale-up phase. A new production facility is in development, funding rounds are in motion and our market position in circular chemistry is gaining traction. To accelerate that momentum, we are looking for a Marketing Communications Manager who will own our external narrative and drive our positioning at a critical point in our growth.

Your role

This is not a traditional marketing role. You will be the strategic owner of how ChainCraft presents itself to the world: to customers, investors, partners, policymakers and the broader chemical industry. You report directly to the CEO and work closely with the Head of Business Development and the wider commercial team.

The role needs strategic ownership: someone who actively shapes our positioning, challenges the leadership team, spots opportunities and drives the external agenda with initiative and conviction.

You will define how we communicate around key milestones such as funding rounds, facility development and commercial partnerships. You will build thought leadership in circular chemistry. You will make sure ChainCraft is found, followed and taken seriously by the people who matter.

Key responsibilities:
  • Positioning and corporate narrative:You own the external story of ChainCraft. You align with leadership and make it land consistently across every channel and touchpoint. You actively benchmark against competitors and challenge the organisation on where we stand and where we need to go.
  • Investor and stakeholder communications:ChainCraft is building momentum toward its next funding round. You ensure that momentum is visible. You know how to translate complex science and commercial progress into credible, data-backed narratives that resonate with investors, strategic partners and policymakers. You proactively push for opinion pieces, media appearances and the kind of exposure that puts ChainCraft on the radar of the right people at the right time.
  • Market communications and community building:You build a community around ChainCraft, a growing group of customers, partners and industry peers who feel connected to our journey and want to be part of what we are building. This includes a structured monthly communication rhythm toward customers, sector-specific messaging per market and campaigns that explain cost parity, performance benefits and sustainability impact in plain business language.
  • Thought leadership and digital visibility:You drive ChainCraft's presence in the right conversations: industry publications, bioeconomy conferences, chemical trade shows and digital channels including LinkedIn. You understand how AI-driven search and online visibility work and you organize and direct the right parties to ensure ChainCraft is findable. You do not need to execute this yourself, but you know what good looks like and you act on it.
  • Commercial team support:You work closely with the business development managers to translate sector knowledge into compelling communication materials: whitepapers, case studies, event presence and campaign content. You own the annual event calendar and you hold the commercial team accountable for timely input. You provide quality assurance on what gets published, ensuring everything aligns with ChainCraft's brand vocabulary and positioning.
  • Brand and channel governance:You ensure consistency across all external touchpoints: website, social media, presentations, publications and events. You work with external design agencies and you know how to brief, steer and get results from them without losing pace.
About you

You have built your career in B2B communications and you know how to operate in environments where the story is still being written. Your track record includes strategic positioning, thought leadership and stakeholder or investor communications, preferably in a context where the science is complex and the commercial opportunity is real but not yet fully proven.

You know how to take fermentation technology, lifecycle analysis data or a funding milestone and turn it into a narrative that lands with a chemical procurement director, a sustainability-focused investor or a policy advisor, without losing accuracy or credibility in the translation.

You are comfortable with ambiguity. In a scale-up, priorities shift, resources are finite and there is rarely a fully staffed team waiting to execute your plans. You have been in that situation before and you did not wait for perfect conditions. You assessed what mattered most, made a clear proposal and moved. That is how you work.

You bring:
  • At least five to eight years of experience in B2B marketing communications, with a strong preference for the chemical industry or adjacent sectors such as biotech or specialty materials.
  • Proven experience in a scale-up or high-growth environment. You understand what it means to build with limited resources, to move fast and to operate without a fully staffed team behind you.
  • Strong English, written and spoken. Dutch is a plus, particularly for events and stakeholder engagement in the Netherlands.
We offer

You join a company at an inflection point: real technology, real customers, real traction and a mission that matters. You work directly with the CEO and leadership team, with significant autonomy and a clear mandate to make an impact.

  • Salary between €80.000 and €100.000 per year, depending on experience.
  • 8% holiday allowance, 29 vacation days and a solid pension plan.
  • Participation in the ChainCraft Stock Appreciation Rights programme.
  • Travel allowance, including for cycling or walking.
  • Flexible working arrangements with a minimum of two days per week at our Amsterdam office.
  • A permanent contract, following an initial period of one year.
