Job summary

Tap Electric, an Amsterdam-based e-mobility startup, is seeking a Finance & Accounting Intern to join the growing team. You will work closely with the Finance Manager to maintain accurate books, improve ledger structures and ensure timely invoicing and payments, while exploring how AI can support finance work.

The role offers hands-on accounting experience, in-office presence in central Amsterdam, and flexible working options.

Qualifications

• You are studying Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics or a related field and want hands-on accounting experience.
• You are detail-oriented, curious and reliable in data handling.
• You enjoy working with numbers and turning data into actionable insights.

Responsibilities

• Keep our accounting accurate by booking invoices and transactions to the right GL accounts.
• Review and optimize our general ledger to improve reporting.
• Manage accounts payable and receivable while coordinating with suppliers and customers.
• Learn to use AI tools to assist finance work and spot anomalies.
• Suggest cleaner, faster, smarter finance processes and own progressively more tasks.

Welcome to Tap Electric. Tap is an e-mobility startup based in the heart of Amsterdam, connecting drivers to chargers for seamless EV charging. Our mission is to deliver a brilliant driver experience at the intersection of grid and mobility .

As we scale across Europe, we’re looking for a Finance & Accounting Intern to help keep our financial house in order. You’ll work closely with our Finance Manager and a growing team of AI agents to keep our accounting clean, accurate and increasingly insightful.

This is a hands‑on role where you’ll work with the details that make a finance function run, while learning how they translate into the bigger financial picture.

What you will be doing

• Keep our accounting clean and accurate. Help ensure invoices and other transactions are booked correctly, on time and to the right general ledger accounts.
• Improve our account structure. You’ll help review and optimize our general ledger so our financial data becomes more useful for reporting and decision‑making.
• Keep accounts payable and receivable moving. Communicate with suppliers and customers to resolve invoice questions, follow up on outstanding payments and help ensure money gets where it needs to go.
• Work with AI. We’re building a finance function where people and AI agents work together. Our agents can help process and check information and identify issues. You’ll learn to use these tools effectively and spot when something doesn’t look right.
• Improve finance processes. As a startup, there’s always something to make cleaner, faster or smarter. If you see a better way, we want you to try it.
• Work with our Finance Manager. You’ll learn how the accounting function works while gradually taking ownership of more processes.

About you

• You’re studying Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics or a related field, and want hands‑on accounting experience.
• You’re detail‑oriented, curious and notice when something doesn’t add up.
• You like working with numbers and understand that accounting is ultimately about creating reliable information for decision‑making.
• You’re comfortable working independently, organized and know when to ask for help.
• You’re curious about technology and excited to use AI to improve finance work.
• You have working rights in the Netherlands and are comfortable communicating in English.

Nice to haves

• Previous experience with bookkeeping or accounting
• Familiarity with accounting software (we work with Xero) and Excel.
• Proficiency in Dutch
• An interest in financial controlling and reporting
• Startup experience and an appetite for ownership

A bit more about Tap

Tap was founded in late 2020 by two charging software veterans, Nico and Dan, who saw that the charging UX for EV drivers was broken. They bootstrapped their way to building 2 key products: a driver app that enables really simple payments on a huge network of chargers; and a platform for charger owners and installers to manage their chargers and collect payments.
