Fastned is seeking a Senior Business Controller to act as a strategic partner across Europe, turning complex data into actionable insights. You will forecast, budget, and model scenarios to guide cash management and investments while collaborating with diverse teams to sustain rapid growth and IFRS reporting excellence.

The role requires a strong background in management control, investment appraisal, and valuation, with a passion for the energy transition and fluent English.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in a similar role, and ideally a Master’s in Finance, Economics, or Accounting.
• Clear communicator with board-level influencing ability.
• Mastery of management control, investment appraisal, and valuation.
• Able to build scalable solutions from scratch and manage large datasets.
• Collaborates with Data Analysts to ensure seamless information flows and strategic outputs.
• Autonomous with a hands-on, inquisitive attitude and risk/opportunity spotting.

Fastned is on a mission to accelerate the transition to electric mobility. Since 2012, we have been building and operating a rapidly growing network of iconic fast-charging stations across Europe powered entirely by solar and wind energy. We now operate over 400 stations across nine countries, with an ambitious goal of reaching 1,000 stations by 2030. We are not building infrastructure for its own sake. Every station we open is a tangible step in the transition away from fossil fuels.

The Role

As our Senior Business Controller, you aren't just crunching numbers, you're a strategic partner supporting and guiding business performance growth. Reporting to the Director FP&A, you'll dive into complex data and turn it into the clear, actionable advice our Directors and (Supervisory) Board need to keep Fastned on track.

You'll use your financial expertise to support our teams across Europe, building strong relationships across different cultures and departments along the way. What you'll do

• Be a Strategic Partner: Use your business acumen to analyze KPIs and dashboards, highlight trends, providing expert advice that helps Business Managers hit their goals.
• Forecast the Future: Build reliable three statement financial models and scenario analyses for cash management and high-stakes investment decisions.
• Own the Budget: Track opex and capex across Europe, benchmarking performance and aligning updated estimates with the business.
• Scale for Growth: Identify opportunities to boost financial performance and proactively optimize our business processes, ensuring our financial operations are lean, scalable, and ready to support our rapidly expanding network
• Collaborate Across Borders: Work on diverse projects involving commercial propositions, marketing activities, operations, retail, product & engineering in a high-growth, international environment.
• Support Group Reporting: Contribute to our quarterly and annual IFRS reports and participate in dialogues with the Audit Committee.
• Finance Domain Expertise: Knowledge of related finance domains such as accounting, tax, and treasury is considered a strong asset and will be highly valued in this role.

About you

• 5+ years of experience in a similar role, and ideally you hold a Master's in Finance, Economics, or Accounting.
• You are a clear communicator and have the maturity to influence decision-making at the board level.
• You're a master of management control, investment appraisal, and valuation.
• You don't just use existing tools, you're a "master tool-maker" who can build scalable solutions from scratch.
• You're comfortable working with large, complex datasets and the tools that manage them. You can navigate high volumes of data efficiently and turn them into reliable, decision-ready outputs.
• You collaborate closely with Data Analysts to ensure our information flows are seamless and our outputs are strategic.
• You have a hands-on, inquisitive attitude. You're quick to spot risks and opportunities, and you're comfortable taking full ownership of complex projects with a high degree of autonomy.
• You are fluent in English. Additional European languages are considered a plus.
• Most importantly, you have a genuine passion for the energy transition. You want your work to mean something and are excited to help Fastned grow.
