Job description

At the Amstel Hotel, we believe that true luxury lies in the details. Every room, every corridor, and every interaction contributes to an exceptional guest experience. As one of Amsterdam’s most iconic five-star hotels, we are committed to preserving our heritage while continuously raising the standards of contemporary luxury hospitality.

We are looking for an experienced and inspiring Executive Housekeeper to lead our Housekeeping department. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness, presentation, and service throughout the hotel. You will lead and develop your team, optimise operational efficiency, and create an environment in which colleagues take pride in their work and guests feel genuinely at home.

If you are passionate about excellence, have an eye for detail, and know how to inspire a team to deliver exceptional results, we would love to welcome you to the Amstel Hotel.

A little taste of your day-to-day
  • Leading and developing your team: Manage, coach, and inspire the Housekeeping team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Maintaining exceptional standards: Ensure that all guest rooms, suites, public areas, and back-of-house spaces are maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness, presentation, and quality, in line with the Amstel Hotel’s brand standards.
  • Creating memorable guest experiences: Work closely with the Front Office and other operational departments to anticipate guest needs, accommodate special requests, and ensure personalised attention for VIPs, returning guests, and other valued visitors.
  • Driving quality and consistency: Conduct regular inspections and quality assessments, identify opportunities for improvement, and implement procedures that safeguard the hotel’s standards and enhance the guest experience.
  • Managing resources and inventory: Oversee the purchasing, storage, and distribution of linen, amenities, cleaning products, and equipment, ensuring efficient stock management while minimising waste and supporting the hotel’s sustainability initiatives.
  • Taking financial responsibility: Contribute to the preparation and management of departmental budgets, monitor costs and productivity, and identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency without compromising quality.
  • Ensuring health, safety, and compliance: Maintain a safe working environment by ensuring that all colleagues follow relevant health, safety, hygiene, and environmental regulations, as well as the hotel’s internal procedures.
  • Collaborating across departments: Build strong working relationships with other Heads of Department to ensure seamless communication, effective planning, and an outstanding overall guest experience.
  • Supporting operational excellence: Oversee deep-cleaning programmes, periodic maintenance activities, and special projects. Lead by example and support your team on the floor whenever operational demands require it.
  • Developing talent and engagement: Identify training needs, support individual development, and create an environment in which colleagues feel valued, motivated, and empowered to deliver their best.
