Job summary

Prothya Biosolutions in Amsterdam is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead our Engineering team within Technical Operations. You will translate business priorities into engineering solutions that improve performance, reliability, compliance, and scalability.

You will manage Senior Project Engineers and Project Managers, drive capital investments, and oversee GMP, GxP, and safety practices while partnering with Validation, QA, and Automation to deliver value.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering or related technical discipline.
• Proven experience leading complex engineering projects in a regulated environment.
• Experience in pharmaceutical/biotech/life sciences; PM methodologies (PMI/PMBOK).

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering projects, technical modifications, and continuous improvements.

What You'll Do

As Manager Engineering, you will translate business priorities into engineering solutions that improve operational performance, reliability, compliance, and scalability.

You will:

• Lead the execution of engineering projects, technical modifications, and continuous improvement initiatives
• Ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and according to quality standards
• Drive strategic engineering planning aligned with organizational objectives
• Monitor project performance, risks, and dependencies while ensuring proactive decision-making

Build and Develop High-Performing Teams

Ensure Quality, Compliance & Safety

You will:

• Ensure full compliance with GMP, GxP, EHS, and internal quality standards
• Safeguard engineering documentation, change control, and project governance
• Collaborate closely with Validation, Quality Assurance, and Automation teams
• Support audits, inspections, SOP development, and deviation management where applicable

Manage Budgets and Resources

You will:

• Own engineering budgets and project cost management
• Support forecasting and investment planning
• Identify and mitigate technical and financial project risks
• Deliver cost-effective engineering solutions that create long-term value

Partner Across the Business

You will serve as a trusted engineering leader and key stakeholder partner by:

• Building strong relationships across Technical Operations and Production
• Providing transparent communication on project scope, planning, risks, and progress
• Facilitating effective cross-functional collaboration to achieve shared goals

What You Bring

Education

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline

Experience

• Proven experience leading complex engineering projects in a regulated environment
• Several years of experience within the pharmaceutical, biotech, biologics, or life sciences industry
• Strong background in project management methodologies (PMI, PMBOK, or equivalent)
• Demonstrated experience leading and developing multidisciplinary engineering teams
• Experience managing budgets, resources, and strategic project portfolios
