To support this next phase, we are seeking a Director Technical Operations: a senior technical leader who can translate strategic ambition into reliable, compliant, and future-proof operations. This role carries end-to-end accountability for engineering, maintenance, automation, validation, facilities, utilities, and asset lifecycle management, ensuring uninterrupted production while enabling growth. This is a build-and-transform role, not a caretaker position. The Director Technical Operations will define and execute a multi-year technical strategy, modernize infrastructure and systems, strengthen governance, and build a resilient organization capable of supporting both current operations and future expansion in a highly regulated environment.

Your key responsibilities
Strategic Technical Leadership & Governance
- Define and translate the Operations strategy into a multi-year Technical Operations roadmap coveringEngineering, Validation, Automation, Maintenance, Utilities, Asset Management, and Facilities
- Establish strong technical governance, decision-making frameworks, and clear prioritization across disciplines
- Ensure alignment with business growth ambitions, quality standards, and regulatory requirements
Asset Lifecycle & Infrastructure Strategy
- Develop and execute a realistic, phased asset lifecycle and infrastructure modernization strategy
- Set CapEx priorities based on compliance, risk, operational impact, and financial feasibility
- Lead long-term planning for buildings, utilities, installations, and critical technical systems
Operational Reliability & Technical Performance
- Define and oversee technical reliability standards to ensure high production uptime
- Ensure effective preventive maintenance, lifecycle management, and escalation processes
- Monitor technical risks, incidents, and performance, ensuring timely corrective and preventive actions
Quality, GMP & Compliance Oversight
- Ensure all technical activities comply withGMP, validation frameworks, and quality systems
- Provide governance on validation strategies, technical change control, and audit readiness
- Proactively identify and mitigate technical and compliance risks in close collaboration with Quality
- Own and manage Technical Operations budgets and CapEx portfolios
- Oversee contract management and strategic supplier partnerships
- Ensure cost control, transparency, and value creation in outsourced technical activities
Leadership & Organizational Development
- Lead, coach, and develop managers across Technical Operations
- Build a resilient organization with clear roles, responsibilities, and spans of control
- Drive engagement, readiness for change, and continuous improvement
Stakeholder Management
- Act as senior technical counterpart for Operations leadership, Quality, Finance, and Executive Management
- Represent Technical Operations in strategic internal and external forums
- Identify and elevate technical, organizational, and compliance risks impacting business objectives
EHS Responsibility
- Ensure health, safety, and environmental standards are embedded in procedures and daily operations
- Promote a strong safety culture with well-informed and accountable teams
Your profile
Education & experience
- Master’s degree (MSc or equivalent) in Engineering, Process Technology, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field
- 10–15 years’ experiencein pharmaceutical or similarly regulated manufacturing environments
- Deep expertise in technical operations, engineering disciplines, and regulated production environments
- Strong knowledge of GMP, quality systems, validation, and regulatory compliance
- Proven experience with asset lifecycle management, utilities, infrastructure, and maintenance strategies
- Solid understanding of CapEx governance, budgeting, and supplier management
- Strategic and systems thinker with the ability to translate vision into execution
- Strong governance and decision-making capabilities
