Job description

Are you an experienced engineering leader who knows how to take a product from prototype to market, and who thrives in an environment that's still being built rather than one that's already fully processed? Then this might be your next role.

About the role

We're looking for an Engineering Manager to lead a Product Team within a fast-growing high-tech organization developing complex hardware and software products, from early-stage development through to market introduction. The team currently consists of 5 to 6 people and is expected to grow to around 10 over the coming period.

You'll join a second layer of engineering leadership, working alongside several peer Engineering Managers who each own a product area. This is a newly shaped role, created to give the team the structure, focus, and support it needs to keep moving fast as the company scales.

What you'll do

You won't be defining product priorities or making technical calls, that sits with the Product Owner, Product System Engineer, and Architect. Instead, you'll make sure your team is able to deliver, consistently and sustainably:

  • Lead, coach, and develop the engineers in your team, including hiring and onboarding as the team grows
  • Plan and manage team capacity in line with the product roadmap
  • Facilitate alignment between Product Owner, System Engineer, and Platform Leads on scope, dependencies, and trade-offs
  • Remove blockers and improve ways of working, tooling, and cross-team collaboration
  • Create transparency on capacity, risks, and delivery status, and escape structural issues when needed
  • Manage relationships with external engineering and manufacturing partners
What you bring
  • A strong technical background (mechanical engineering preferred; a physics background also considerd), strong enough to think along with your team at their level, without needing to solve the problems yourself
  • Proven experience taking products through industrialization, from prototype toward production and market readiness
  • Solid experience as a people manager
  • A pragmatic, structure-bringing mindset: you spot inefficiencies quickly and fix what actually matters, without adding bureaucracy
  • Comfort operating in a still-evolving environment where you help shape processes rather than simply follow them
  • Experience working with external partners and translating their input into clear requirements
  • Location: on-site, minimum 4 days per week (1 day remote is possible)
  • This is an office-based role due to the hands-on, hardware-driven nature of the team and the pace of growth
