Job summary

Maersk is seeking an experienced Employee Relations Manager for the Netherlands and Belgium. You will shape and execute ER/LR strategies, advise leaders on employment law, and manage complex employee relations matters in a multinational, matrix organization.

You will partner with works councils, unions, and HR stakeholders, lead investigations when needed, and help implement policies and risk controls across the region, ensuring compliant and constructive labour relations.

Qualifications

• Degree in Law (LL.M.) or equivalent with specialization in Employment or Labor Law.
• 7–10 years of Employee Relations/Labor Relations/Employment Law experience, Netherlands-focused.
• Experience in multinational environments and navigating matrix structures.
• Strong communication, influencing and relationship-building skills for senior leadership and employee representatives.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert advice to business leaders, People Partners, and HR stakeholders on complex employment law, labor relations, and employee relations matters.
• Partner with management on works council consultations, union engagements, collective bargaining topics in the Netherlands and Belgium.
• Lead or manage complex employee relations cases, investigations, disputes, and litigation matters with external counsel when needed.
• Identify and mitigate employment and labor relations risks, ensuring compliance with Dutch and Belgian law and collective agreements.
• Develop and maintain constructive relationships with works councils, unions, external legal advisors, and internal stakeholders.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of Employee Relations policies and best practices across the North Europe Continent Area.
