Job summary

Maersk in the Netherlands & Belgium invites an experienced Employee Relations Manager to drive ER/LR strategies and lead labor relations with unions and works councils. You will advise business leaders, manage complex cases, and partner with HR stakeholders to enable transformation while ensuring compliance with Dutch and Belgian employment law.

The role blends strategic influence with hands-on execution in a multinational setting.

Qualifications

Degree in Law (LL.M.) or equivalent with specialization Employment/Labor Law.
7–10 years in Employee Relations/L labor relations/Employment Law, incl. NL experience.
Experience with labor relations structures in other European countries is a plus.
Multinational and matrix environment experience.
Strong ability to manage complex stakeholders and negotiations.

Responsibilities

Provide expert advice to business leaders and HR on employment law and labor relations.
Partner with management on works council consultations and union engagements (NL/BE).
Support organizational change, restructurings, policy implementation, and workforce transformation.
Lead or manage complex ER cases, investigations, and disputes, involving external counsel as needed.
Identify and mitigate employment and labor relations risks per Dutch/Belgian law and collective agreements.
Develop and maintain constructive relationships with works councils, unions, and key stakeholders.
Contribute to ER policies, frameworks, and best practices across the North Europe Continent Area.
Collaborate with regional and global ER colleagues on cross-border initiatives.
