Job summary

Via Transportation, Inc. is seeking a Payroll Lead EMEA to own the monthly payroll for Via Germany and oversee payroll teams across Israel and Europe. You will ensure accurate, timely, and compliant payroll processing every month while guiding regional Payroll Managers.

Remote-friendly role with travel up to once a month to Berlin or Amsterdam. English fluency required; German a plus. Compensation includes equity and a European scope across multiple countries.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of payroll experience in Germany, including hourly/shift-based employees.
• Familiar with payroll in other EMEA countries (Israel, UK, France, Netherlands).
• Fluent in English; German a plus.
• Proactive, process-driven, and able to meet strict deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Own and drive the monthly payroll process for Via Germany, coordinating with external payroll provider and internal teams.
• Provide leadership to Payroll Managers across Israel and rest of Europe (UK, Germany, France, Netherlands).
• Monitor German tax regulations and wage laws to ensure compliance.
• Perform payroll audits and implement process improvements and internal controls.
• Manage benefit deductions and tax withholdings with accuracy and confidentiality.
• Lead payroll-related financial reporting from journal entries to GL reconciliation.
• Support escalated payroll queries from Support Operations.
• Contribute to cross-functional projects to strengthen payroll processes.
