Job summary

McFly & Brown is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer to design and implement embedded software for high-tech systems in semiconductor, analytical, and medical equipment industries. You will work on C/C++ on Linux-based platforms, RTOS, and bare-metal, contributing to architecture, GUI interfaces with Qt, and safety standards.

Based in the Netherlands with Delft involvement and Randstad customer sites, the role offers a hybrid work model, a competitive salary up to €6,500 gross per month, 28

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in a technical field as listed.
• 2–3 years in embedded/technical software development.
• Strong C/C++ on embedded systems with Linux/RTOS.
• Knowledge of architecture, patterns and maintainable design.
• Qt experience is a plus.
• Hardware protocols UART/SPI/CAN/I2C are advantageous.
• For senior roles, 5+ years in embedded software development.
• Experience with bare-metal, FreeRTOS, Zephyr, Functional Safety or MISRA is a strong advantage.
• Real-time systems, performance and software quality matter.
• Fluent Dutch and English.
• Experience in semiconductor/medical/analytical instrumentation is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Developing and testing embedded software in C and C++ for advanced high-tech systems.
• Building and optimizing applications on Linux-based and real-time platforms.
• Designing modular, maintainable and scalable embedded software architectures.
• Developing graphical interfaces in Qt for machine and system control.
• Designing and implementing state machines and real-time logic.
• Working with RTOS such as FreeRTOS, Zephyr and Embedded Linux.
• Integrating UART, SPI, CAN and I2C protocols.
• Creating automated tests, for example using Python.
• Debugging and analysing complex embedded systems.
• Contributing to system architecture and engineering decisions.
• Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams of software, electronics and mechatronics engineers.
• Applying Functional Safety standards such as IEC 61508, SIL and MISRA where needed.
