Doghouse Recruitment partners with a client that builds smart hydration systems. They seek an Embedded Software Engineer (C/C++ | RTOS) in Amsterdam to design, implement and debug software running on hardware used across 1,300+ locations.
You'll influence software architecture, review code, and push toward modern C++ while collaborating with hardware, Android and product teams. The role offers a hybrid setup and equity on top of up to €84K yearly.
Embedded Software Engineer - C / C++ | RTOS | Amsterdam [€84K + Equity]
The hardware is already working, but there's plenty left to build and improve. You'll work across hardware, embedded software, Android and product, developing and debugging software that runs on physical devices used across 1,300+ locations. The embedded team is small, so you won't just be writing the code, you'll help decide how the software is designed, tested and built going forward.
My client builds smart hydration systems that combine physical hardware, embedded software and digital products in one system. Their products are already deployed across more than 1,300 locations. The engineering organisation is relatively small, with embedded, hardware and software engineers working closely together. You'll join the embedded team and work directly with the people building the systems around it.
You'll work from requirements through implementation, testing and debugging on actual hardware, while working closely with hardware engineers, Android developers and product. The existing embedded codebase contains a mix of C and C++. Part of your work will be building new functionality. Another part will be understanding and improving existing software, fixing bugs and making the system more stable. The longer term goal is to move towards modern C++ and a more consistent approach to software design and architecture
You'll also contribute to code reviews, technical decisions and engineering standards within a small team. The role is not limited to your own code. Embedded software sits in the middle of the wider system, so you'll be involved in how the different technical disciplines work together.
Up to €84K gross per year, including 8% holiday allowance + Equity.
