Job summary

PSD Group is seeking an experienced Hardware/Software Integration Engineer to join the SBD Team on a contract/freelance basis in Rotterdam, Netherlands, through to June 2027. The role focuses on integrating embedded hardware and software across complex systems, with hands-on debugging, bring-up, and testing responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in hardware/software integration.
• Strong background in low-level/embedded systems programming.
• Proficient in C and C++, with C# experience considered a plus.
• Experience debugging across hardware/software boundaries.
• Ability to work with multidisciplinary engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• Integrate hardware and software components across embedded and connected systems.
• Develop, test, and troubleshoot low-level software using C/C++ and/or C#.
• Support hardware bring-up, system integration, and initial software deployment.
• Diagnose and resolve hardware/software integration issues across components.
• Analyse system behavior to identify hardware, firmware, software, or interface issues.
• Collaborate with software, firmware, hardware, and systems engineers to resolve technical issues.
• Participate in integration testing, system validation, and debugging activities.
• Support development and improvement of integration and test processes.
• Investigate technical issues and provide clear, practical solutions.
• Document integration activities, test results, and resolutions where required.
• Contribute to successful delivery of integrated systems in a complex engineering environment.
