Job summary

PSD Group is seeking an experienced Hardware/Software Integration Engineer to join the SBD Team on a contract/freelance basis in Rotterdam, Netherlands, through to June 2027. They are currently looking for an experienced Hardware/Software Integration Engineer to join their SBD Team on a contract/freelance basis through to June 2027.

About the Role

As a Hardware/Software Integration Engineer, you will work as part of the SBD Team, supporting the integration of hardware and software components within complex technical systems.

The role will involve working across the boundary between hardware and software, helping to ensure that embedded software, hardware components, and associated systems work together reliably and effectively. You will be involved in activities such as system integration, software/hardware bring-up, debugging, troubleshooting, testing, and resolving integration issues.

You will work closely with other engineering teams to identify problems at both hardware and software level and support the delivery of robust, production-ready solutions.

This is a hands-on engineering role suited to someone who enjoys working close to the hardware while also having strong software development and debugging skills.

Key Responsibilities

What we are looking for

Experience

• Proven experience in hardware/software integration.
• Strong experience working with low-level or embedded systems programming.
• Good programming experience in C and/or C++, with C# experience also relevant.
• Experience troubleshooting and debugging issues across hardware and software boundaries.
• Understanding of how software interacts with physical hardware and embedded systems.
• Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Comfortable working in a hands-on engineering and integration environment.

Desired skills but not essential

• Knowledge or experience of vision systems, cameras, image processing, or related technologies.
• Previous experience within the airline, aviation, airport, or wider air transport industry.
