Job summary

Vivid Resourcing seeks an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to design, develop, and support electrical systems for vehicles and mobile machinery in the Netherlands. You will design wiring harnesses, create schematics using AutoCAD or EPLAN, select components, and build production documentation while collaborating with engineering, production and suppliers.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years designing electrical systems, preferably in vehicles or mobile machinery.
• Proven experience designing wiring harnesses and producing manufacturing-ready electrical drawings.

Responsibilities

• Design and detail wiring harnesses, including cable lengths, branch-outs, protective coverings, labeling, manufacturability, and durability considerations.
• Create and maintain electrical schematics, connection plans, and production drawings using AutoCAD or similar electrical design software.
• Select and specify electrical components such as switches, push buttons, sensors, connectors, relays, and cable types appropriate for the application.
• Design electrical sub-assemblies, including control boxes and relay boxes.
• Build, test, and evaluate prototypes, identifying improvements and implementing design modifications where necessary.
• Prepare and maintain delivery and technical documentation.
• Create and manage Bills of Materials (BOMs) and production routes within the ERP system (EOP).
• Support continuous improvement of electrical systems, production processes, and documentation standards.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to design, develop, and support electrical systems for vehicles and mobile machinery. In this role, you will be responsible for creating robust and manufacturable wiring harness designs, selecting electrical components, supporting prototype development, and ensuring accurate production documentation. You will work closely with engineering, production, suppliers, and work preparation teams to deliver reliable electrical solutions from concept through production.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and detail wiring harnesses, including cable lengths, branch-outs, protective coverings, labeling, manufacturability, and durability considerations.
• Create and maintain electrical schematics, connection plans, and production drawings using AutoCAD or similar electrical design software.
• Select and specify electrical components such as switches, push buttons, sensors, connectors, relays, and cable types appropriate for the application.

Requirements

Education & Experience

• Minimum of 3 years of experience designing electrical systems, preferably within the vehicle, automotive, off-highway, agricultural, marine, or mobile machinery sectors.
• Proven experience designing wiring harnesses and producing manufacturing-ready electrical drawings.

Technical Skills

• Strong knowledge of 24V vehicle electrical systems.
• Practical understanding of cabling, connectors, routing, protection methods, and electrical installation best practices.
• Experience with AutoCAD or equivalent electrical design software such as EPLAN or Zuken.
• Ability to create and maintain electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and production documentation.
• Experience with ERP systems and BOM management is advantageous.
