Electrical Designer – Mechatronics & Medical Equipment
A leading high-tech engineering organization is seeking an Electrical Designer to join its Mechatronics & Manufacturing Systems department. The team is responsible for the specification, design, and realization of advanced mechatronic solutions for healthcare and industrial applications. Working within multidisciplinary project teams, you will contribute directly to the development of complex medical and mechatronic equipment, ensuring compliance with the highest industry standards.
Job Description
As an Electrical Designer, you will design, implement, test, and integrate electrical systems for complex mechatronic equipment, with a focus on advanced motion control and precision measurement. You will contribute to the electrical architecture of modules and subassemblies, ensuring compliance with healthcare equipment regulations (IEC-60601, ISO 13485). This role requires close collaboration with internal teams and customers, supporting both design and realization of high-tech solutions, while ensuring reliability, compliance, and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to the electrical architecture of mechatronic modules and subassemblies
- Design and document electrical modules such as e-cabinets, cabling, connectors, and interfaces
- Ensure compliance with IEC-60601, ISO 13485, CE, EMC, and UL regulations for medical and industrial equipment
- Select and integrate electrical components for industrial automation and motion control solutions (servo technology)
- Create detailed wiring diagrams for cabling, field boxes, and electrical cabinets
- Develop test specifications and execute verification tests
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support design, integration, and troubleshooting
- Support project planning by creating work breakdown structures for assigned tasks
- Travel to customer sites (up to 25%) to support design, integration, and testing activities
- Represent the electrical design team in customer-facing interactions and project reviews
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science Engineering, or related fields
- Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s, or entry-level with a Master’s
- Strong background in electrical cabinet design, wiring, and interfacing for mechatronic equipment
- Experience with industrial automation components and motion control systems (servo technology)
- Knowledge of CE, EMC, UL, and medical equipment standards (IEC-60601, ISO 13485)
- Proficiency with EPlan (required); experience with Microsoft Visio and technical product documentation systems is a plus
- Ability to plan and execute assigned work independently, while being a proven team player
- Strong communication and customer-oriented mindset
- Willingness to travel up to 25% and work occasionally at customer sites
- Fluent in English (written and spoken)
