Job Description
We are seeking a seasoned Senior Electrical Designer to join our engineering organization as a consultant, bringing deep technical and leadership expertise to complex mechatronic system development projects. In this role, you will take ownership of electrical architecture, design, and integration for advanced equipment used in high-precision, regulated environments. You’ll act as a technical leader within multidisciplinary teams, guiding electrical design execution, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards, and mentoring junior engineers. If you have a proven track record in electrical system development and thrive in technically demanding, fast-moving projects—this is your opportunity to make a significant impact.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and lead the electrical architecture of complex mechatronic systems, including power distribution, control infrastructure, and signal integrity.
- Translate system requirements into detailed electrical designs for medical, industrial, or high-tech equipment—ensuring performance, reliability, and safety.
- Lead the specification, design, and documentation of electrical systems, including schematics, harness layouts, cabinet designs, and interface definitions.
- Act as electrical team lead within multidisciplinary projects—defining work breakdowns, planning tasks, and supervising the execution of detailed design activities.
- Ensure full compliance with safety, EMC, and regulatory standards such as CE, UL, IEC 60601, ISO 13485, and other applicable directives.
- Apply the V-model throughout development: defining requirements, creating test specifications, overseeing test execution, and reporting results.
- Collaborate closely with mechanical, software, systems, and validation engineers to ensure seamless integration of electrical subsystems.
- Support motion control systems and electrical drive train technologies, including servo systems, motor control, and power electronics.
- Mentor and guide junior electrical designers, promoting best practices in design, documentation, and compliance.
- Interface with suppliers, manufacturing partners, and external stakeholders to ensure design feasibility and serviceability.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field.
- Minimum 15 years of professional experience in electrical design, with at least 10 years in high-tech, precision equipment, or regulated environments (e.g., medical, industrial automation, aerospace).
- Strong leadership experience—demonstrated ability to lead electrical teams in complex, cross-functional projects.
- In-depth knowledge of electrical system architecture, power distribution, control panels, and industrial automation components.
- Extensive experience with regulatory requirements for safety‑critical systems (e.g., IEC 60601, ISO 13485, FDA, CE, EMC, UL).
- Proficient in electrical design tools (e.g., EPlan, AutoCAD Electrical) and requirements management systems.
- Solid understanding of V‑model development, test validation, and design traceability in regulated environments.
- Excellent planning, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Customer‑centric mindset with a proactive, solution‑driven approach.
- Fluent in English; local language proficiency is a plus.
Preferred Attributes
- Experience working in consulting, interim, or project-based roles across multiple industries.
- Familiarity with PLM/PDM systems (e.g., Windchill, Teamcenter) for document and configuration management.
