Job summary

Innovate is seeking a hands-on Electrical Automation Engineer to own the electrical and control aspects of conveyor and filling-line projects. You will design control cabinets, write line software, and ensure smooth line operation from concept through commissioning.

You will collaborate with mechanical engineers to optimize hardware and software for robust line performance, while delivering practical, maintainable solutions for customers across industrial transport systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's/Masters degree in Industrial Automation, Electrical Engineering or Mechatronics.
• Around 3 years' experience in a similar mechanical/automation role.
• PLC programming experience, ideally Siemens S7 / TIA Portal.

Responsibilities

Electrical Automation Engineer (Conveyor & Filling Line Automation environment)

We're recruiting on behalf of our client, an established and growing specialist in conveyor and internal transport systems. To support continued expansion, they're looking for a versatile Mechatronics Engineer to join their engineering team.

The role

This is a hands-on position for a genuine techie who enjoys seeing a project through from concept to a fully running line.

You'll take ownership of the electrical and control side of transport systems, with a strong focus on hardware design and developing line control logic for filling lines. In short, you're the one who brings the lines to life, designing both the control cabinets and the software that makes everything run.

You'll collaborate closely with the mechanical engineers, finding the right balance between control and mechanical engineering to deliver the best solutions for customers.

Key responsibilities

• Writing functional specifications and a textual design for each line
• Producing the technical design once the customer has signed off
• Designing complete electrical installations
• Selecting all hardware, including PLCs, frequency inverters, safety systems and other components
• PLC programming
• Testing lines in-house and carrying out commissioning on customer sites
• Contributing ideas for innovation and ongoing product development

What you'll bring

• A completed technical degree at HBO or WO level (Bachelor's/Master's) in Industrial Automation, Electrical Engineering or Mechatronics
• Around 3 years' experience in a similar role within mechanical engineering; a background in internal transport is a bonus
• PLC programming experience, ideally with Siemens S7 / TIA Portal
• Experience with AutoCAD Electrical; EPLAN knowledge is an advantage
• Comfortable working with Microsoft Office
• Fluent Dutch and English, both spoken and written; German is a plus
