Job summary

Aegon Asset Management in the Netherlands (Schiphol or Groningen) seeks a Financial Controller to lead AP/AR, VAT, payroll and closing processes. You’ll collaborate with multiple locations and the HR function to ensure accurate reporting and strong financial controls.

The role emphasizes process improvements, internal controls, and cross-location coordination, with a focus on delivering reliable financial information and supporting finance projects. A pension scheme is offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s (or Master’s) degree in business administration, accounting, finance or related field.
• 3-5 years of relevant working experience.
• Experience with accounts payable, expense accounting and month-end close.
• Experience with VAT administration and financial reconciliations.
• Understanding of payroll accounting processes and related reconciliations.
• Strong accounting principles and Dutch financial regulations.
• Fluent in English; Dutch is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage accounts payable process, vendor relationships, and payment execution.
• Act as primary contact for invoice and payment matters with stakeholders.
• Administer VAT processes and ensure compliance with Dutch regulations.
• Oversee payroll accounting and related reconciliations with HR.
• Manage accounts receivable activities and collections for Dutch operations.
• Support monthly, quarterly, and annual closings and related admin.
• Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and accruals.
• Participate in finance projects to drive automation and internal controls.
• Provide proactive financial support and challenge to the organization.
