Avular is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to build onboard software for modular robotics platforms and to bridge hardware and higher-level software teams. You will develop in C++17 with Python, focusing on ROS2-based systems and production-quality UI with Qt/QML.
The role involves collaborating with hardware, control, and algorithm engineers, defining requirements, and validating features against embedded hardware. Eindhoven office-based role with growth opportunities.
We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join the Avular Team!
At Avular, we are looking for an ambitious and enthusiastic senior software engineer to strengthen our current team. Here you will work on developing and productizing software components for our modular robotics platforms. In this role, you will make sure that our control and algorithmic engineers can use our products with ROS to create more advanced features. So, you will become the bridge between our hardware and higher-level software engineers or control engineers.
Avular designs and builds modular robotics platforms from the ground up. You will build and productise the onboard software for our driving robots, as well as co-develop the architecture it sits in. Your work is what allows our control and algorithm engineers to build higher-level autonomy on top, via ROS.
Design and build onboard applications in C++, with Python where it fits
Co-develop the software architecture — interfaces, structure, and how components fit together
Define and write requirements for new functionality
Work close to the hardware, including firmware where the role calls for it
Build the automated tests and documentation that make a feature genuinely done
Collaborate directly with hardware, control and algorithm engineers
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Embedded Systems, Robotics, or a related field.
Typically 2–5 years of professional software engineering experience.
Strong programming skills in modern C++ (C++17 or newer), and working experience with Python.
Strong practical experience with Qt and QML, preferably developing production-quality user interfaces for embedded or mobile devices.
Experience designing software that communicates with and controls external hardware or robotic systems.
Comfortable working with Linux, CMake, Git, and modern C++ development workflows.
Familiarity with ROS2 or the ability to quickly become productive with it.
Comfortable debugging applications that combine user-interface, communication, and hardware-integration components.
Interest in, or experience with, the Android application and deployment ecosystem, including building applications, packaging, signing, deployment, and release management.
Familiarity with automated builds and CI/CD pipelines.
Experience with MAVLink, MAVROS/MAVROS2, or similar drone ecosystems.
Experience developing applications for Android-based devices.
Experience with Android NDK and cross-compiling C++ applications for Android.
Knowledge of drone operation, telemetry, mission control, or remote-control systems.
Experience with networking and communication protocols used for command, control, telemetry, and video.
Bring your vision and grow your career in a fast-paced, high-tech environment.
Salary based on experience level, a non-contributory pension scheme, and travel cost reimbursement.
Benefit directly from company growth through our participation plan.
Game nights, Friday drinks, epic team events, and celebrations.
30 paid vacation days (plus national holidays) to unwind and explore.
The best coffee, fresh fruit, and snacks to power your day.
