Job summary

European Investment Bank (EIB) seeks a Head of Business Applications & Engineering Division to lead the evolution of the Bank’s business applications, integration platforms and software engineering capabilities from its Luxembourg headquarters. The role drives secure, innovative digital solutions at scale and shapes engineering standards across multi-disciplinary teams.

As a senior leader, you will guide strategic roadmaps, partner with business stakeholders, and oversee a sizable portfolio

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in CS, SE, IT or related field.
10+ years leading delivery, operation and lifecycle of business-critical applications, with leadership beyond development.
Experience leading multiple technology teams in multicultural/international environments and developing leaders.
Proven ability to partner with business stakeholders to shape demand, roadmaps and investments.
Experience across full lifecycle: architecture, engineering, integration, production, modernization and retirement with security and resilience.
Proven track record defining common engineering standards, enablement capabilities, shared platforms/tools and delivery practices.
Strong knowledge of modern integration including cloud/hybrid, APIs, event-driven and SOA, middleware and enterprise patterns.
Excellent knowledge of English; knowledge of French is an advantage.

Responsibilities

Lead the Division’s portfolio of bespoke business applications, aligning roadmaps with business priorities and enterprise architecture.
Define and drive the Bank’s application integration strategy for secure, scalable platforms.
Build and lead software engineering enablement with common standards and tooling across teams.
Lead and develop the Division’s management team and empower leaders across disciplines.
Be accountable for delivery portfolio, resources and budget, balancing investments with production stability and security.
Ensure secure, resilient operation and promote automation, observability and DevSecOps across services.
Govern technology vendors and partners, ensuring internal architecture ownership and compliance.
Monitor trends and promote innovation to keep capabilities aligned with best practices.
