Job summary

Genmab A/S in the Netherlands seeks a Data Scientist with active learning expertise to join the Discovery Data Science team in Utrecht. You will bridge machine learning with laboratory experiments to advance antibody discovery and the Digital Twin initiative.

The role involves developing ML models, collaborating with experimental scientists, and building reusable workflows. Availability to work 32–40 hours per week, with ~2–3 days in Utrecht offices, is required.

Qualifications

• PhD in a relevant scientific or quantitative discipline with demonstrated data science expertise.
• Experience in immune-oncology, antibody discovery, or related areas is valued.
• Experience with active learning, lab-in-the-loop methodologies, sequential experimental design, or related approaches.
• Experience applying ML to biological/molecular/experimental data with biological context awareness.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with data and experimental scientists to translate antibody discovery questions into modelling objectives.
• Develop, apply, and evaluate ML models using molecular and experimental data, focusing on active learning and lab-in-the-loop approaches.
• Design informative experiments and data-generation strategies for predictive modelling.
• Analyze and integrate discovery and screening data to inform molecule design and project decisions.
• Refine models as new experimental results become available and assess their relevance.
• Build robust, reproducible analytical workflows and reusable modelling tools for discovery programs.
• Communicate modelling approaches, findings, and limitations clearly to colleagues across disciplines.
• Take ownership of data science contributions within multidisciplinary projects.
