Job summary

Prothya Biosolutions Belgium BV is seeking a Project Manager to translate strategic ambitions into tangible results within the Engineering department. You will lead multidisciplinary teams, manage scope, budget and schedules, and ensure GMP/GxP compliance across pharmaceutical installations.

The role reports to the Manager Engineering and involves coaching junior project managers, developing business cases, and handing over to operations with lasting value.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or equivalent in biotech/chemical engineering or related field.
• Eight+ years experience in the pharmaceutical sector, including four+ years in strategic project management.
• Project management certification (PRINCE2 Practitioner or PMI PMP).
• Broad knowledge of GMP and GxP requirements.
• Excellent verbal and written communication in Dutch and English.

Responsibilities

• Define and justify projects, establish scope, objectives, schedules, budgets, risks; develop business cases and secure sponsor approval.
• Lead multidisciplinary teams; clarify responsibilities and keep focus on outcomes.
• Monitor progress, costs, scope and quality; identify risks and coordinate changes with stakeholders.
• Keep sponsors and steering committees informed with clear communication and transparent decision-making.
• Ensure GxP compliance and manage SOPs, deviations and change control, keeping training records up to date.
• Close out projects and handover to operations; document results and lessons learned.
• Develop project management capabilities by coaching junior project managers and advising management on opportunities.

Job description

Would you like to lead complex projects in a pharmaceutical environment where quality and reliability are key? As a Project Manager at Prothya, you translate strategic ambitions into tangible results. You bring experts together and guide projects from the initial business case through to a successful handover to operations.

Your role

Within the Engineering department, you are responsible for long-term, multidisciplinary projects with a significant impact on our organisation. Most projects involve pharmaceutical installations, making GMP and the associated quality requirements an essential part of your work.

You provide functional leadership to project teams comprising internal and external experts, ensuring that scope, budget, schedule and quality remain aligned. You balance stakeholder interests with Prothya’s strategic objectives. You report to the Manager Engineering.

What will you do?

• Define and justify projects. You establish the scope, objectives, roles, schedules, budgets and risks. You develop business cases and secure approval from project sponsors.
• Lead multidisciplinary teams. You bring together specialists from different disciplines, clarify responsibilities and keep the team focused on the agreed outcomes.
• Monitor progress and quality. You manage timelines, costs, scope and quality. You identify risks early, resolve issues and coordinate changes with the relevant stakeholders.
• Keep stakeholders engaged. You report to sponsors and steering committees, ensuring clear communication, transparent decision-making and stakeholder buy-in.
• Ensure GxP compliance. You keep track of existing and new GxP requirements within your area of expertise and make decisions within your remit. You manage or advise on SOPs, deviations and change control, and keep your mandatory training and training records up to date.
• Close out projects thoroughly. You organise the handover to operations, close out contracts and document results and lessons learned. You ensure that project outcomes are put into practice and deliver lasting value.
• Develop project management capabilities. You coach junior project managers and project leads, improve work processes and advise the management team on strategic opportunities.

You also have

• A master’s degree or an equivalent level of professional and analytical ability—for example, a bachelor’s degree combined with extensive experience—in biotechnology, chemical engineering, process engineering or a related field.
• At least eight years of experience in the pharmaceutical sector, including at least four years in strategic project management.
• A project management certification, such as PRINCE2 Practitioner or PMI PMP.
• Broad and in-depth knowledge of relevant GMP and GxP requirements.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in Dutch and English.
• The ability to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including international partners.
