Job summary

Sibelco is seeking a Director Sustainability Central Europe to lead the regional sustainability agenda across Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, the Czech Republic, Poland and Ukraine, while actively managing permitting and land files in the base country.

You will join the global Sustainability team, report to the Vice President Sustainability, and guide Sustainability Managers and Specialists with a pragmatic, hands-on approach and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• University degree in law, geology or engineering.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in environmental management or sustainability.
• Experience working with authorities, regulators, communities and NGOs.
• Comprehensive knowledge of environmental legislation in an industrial setting.
• A pragmatic, hands-on approach with strong environmental expertise.
• Strong communication skills and business acumen.

Responsibilities

• Lead sustainability activities across the sub-region to ensure standards are met.
• Obtain environmental and mining permits, manage land, and engage with communities in the base country.
• Directly manage Sustainability Managers and Specialists in the sub-region.
• Identify, manage and monitor environmental risks and opportunities across operations.
• Contribute to global sustainability programs, projects and KPIs (GHG, water, waste, biodiversity, mine closure).
• Ensure accurate, timely reporting and act as a business partner to the VP Sustainability.
• Collaborate with the global sustainability team and sub-regional leadership.
